To 3M or Not to 3M

Bought new 2012 in black.

Wondering if i should invest in 3M or not. Local quote I'm getting for the front bumper is $500.

Instead, I can spend the same in a few years on repainting the bumper?

1) To do, or not to do, that's the question.

2) any shops near Toronto or quotes you know of?

Was told the other day by the guy doing the repair on my car that comprehensive insurance coverage allows you to fix any stone chips, minor dings etc without it affecting your premiums. Something to consider...

First thing I did to my SS with 22 miles on the car. While your at it have them do the rocker panels on the bottom down the side of the car. That area actually gets beat up worse then the front. It will be sand blasted within a few thousand mile in front and behind the tires. I had the nose done for 400.00 and the rockers done 12 inches up down the side of the car for 180.00 per side.

yeah, you can not do the 3M and have your front end resprayed after xxxx amount of years, but how can u be sure the paint will match 100%? that's my main reason why I had my front, sides and rear done with 3M the very same day I picked up my SS from the dealership.

3 years later and my front end still looks brand new.

I'd be curious to hear from someone that actually succeeded in a claim like that. I've never heard of an insurance company covering "normal wear & tear" from years of driving. I have seen claims covered after following a leaking gravel truck on the highway, but even then, they'll claim you were following too closely. You'd still have to pay the deductible ($500?, $1,000?). I have full glass coverage, which includes the headlight assemblies and DRL's, but I'd have to talk to my agent to claify the paint coverage.
I got the clear bra on the nose, A-pillars, mirror fronts, and door handle cups, as soon as I got the car home. Best investment I made on the car!

My only regret was not doing the rockers and gill area as well as the front bumper. 2 years in and the car looks great in the front.
I had a 5 y/o Cobalt and the front bumper was a train wreck from all the chips. That's what prompted me to protect the Camaro right out of the gate.

I would do it... just last week I had something huge fall of a trailer (I believe, cannot confirm) and hit my lower front lip. Now there are two gashes all the way to the metal about 2 centimeters wide on both sides and a cracked windshield.

I can file a claim and pay my deductible, but pay the consequences of two claims in a year or pay upward of 1.5-2k to fix it all.... could have all be avoided with a 500 dollar clear bra.
