Does Nav opt remove MyLink?
It seems most 2012 Chevrolets with touch screens either get MyLink with no nav or you can pay for DVD based nav but lose MyLink.
1. Does anyone know if this is the case with the 2013 Camaro? 2. If you don't get nav, will turn-by-turn show up in HUD and/or touch screen? 3. With MyLink, can I at least access onstar saved destinations? Much appreciated!! |

1. the Nav units have not hit the streets but as advertised it is MyLink or MyLink with Nav
2. Nav will show directions on the MyLink screen. I'm sure onstar turn by turn will still be available 3. Onstar turn byb turn is completely independent of the mylink Nav. |

I guess the question I have is this...
On every other Chevrolet model to date, when you opt for the navigation system, you lose MyLink apps functionality (Pandors, etc). It's one or the other. I assume the Camaro is the same deal? |

Hmm, not that I know of and as far as I know it is not DVD bases since this does not have a CD/DVD drive but I'm no expert on this matter as I have never owned a vehicle with an on board navigation system.

So GM has two touch screen systems. This has been a frustration to Volt owners as well. The first system does not have apps like Pandora but does have navigation... the other has apps but no navigation. It sounds like a strategic move on GM's part so they get you for navigation either way: Either you pay the $700-1000 for navigation or pay OnStar for Directions/connections and get the MyLink Apps.
Honestly, the screen is so low in the dash that using it for directions (map) is pretty useless. My vote is keep the standard MyLink app radio and bluetooth my iPhone for turn-by-turn or use OnStar and get the arrows in the HUD and instrument cluster. (And save the $800) |

Can you really pair your phones navigation to the MyLink? Now I'm having second thoughts on whether the navigation is worth it. This article seems to suggest the MyLink would work as I was expecting - http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13746_7...v-integration/ |

I am almost certain that unlike other MyLink GM cars, the new 2013 Camaro's nav will still have the MyLink.
I am not 100% though. Last edited by Sqwirtle; 08-08-2012 at 01:39 PM. Reason: Typo |

A Chevrolet Rep on another thread just confirmed that if you get the navigation option, you do not have access to apps like Pandora. However, the system still has bluetooth streaming so you can listen to Pandora that way. If you get the MyLink without nav, OnStar turn-by-turn is displayed on the HUD, Instrument Cluster, and Touch Screen.
It's one or the other. For me, I'd rather get the non-nav, pay for Directions/connections, or use my iPhone for turn/by/turn streamed to the radio. |

Nav will also have MyLink on the Camaro. The first generation of MyLink was not available with NAV and that's why there is a contstraint on the new nav with MyLink on all models right now. Malibu and Equinox are also getting it and NAV is on constraint now those models as well.

The reality is this. The only thing the Pandora App does is show album art on the screen and give you thumbs up/down touch and voice commands. You can use your phone for that just as easily so I wouldn't be bummed about getting the nav option. I think I'm going to order without it thought as I'm a gadget freak and don't use navigation enough to warrant the expense. NOW if the apps came with the nav option, I'd get it for sure.
The advantage of using OnStar for navigation is that you get arrows in the HUD and instrument cluster. With the touch screen nav option, you only get directions on the touch display and after spending time in one yesterday at my dealer, that display is so low on the dash that looking down to see arrows is pretty dangerous. Put your hand right now at shifter level.... THAT'S how low the Camaro display is. To be honest, it's eye-candy. The other thing is that, according to the order guide, the navigation system is DVD-based. If that's the case, based on every car with DVD-based nav I've ever owned, searches and POI are brutally slow and the systems go out of date. Your phone and OnStar are always current. Big difference between this: ![]() and THIS:

Per my resources, when adding the navigation feature to the Color Touch radio, the applications will not be available to use, however, you would still be able to stream music via your phone through the Bluetooth if you have the applications available on your phone. I hope this information was helpful. Brandon Chevrolet Customer Service |

There is no mention of losing MyLink features with NAV in the Camaro order guide. GM has been working on getting NAV to work with MyLink and it's my understanding that the delay and constraint on NAV is for that very reason. What is quoted above was true in the 2012 Equinox and early 2013 Malibu Eco models. |

So can I order a new Camaro with nav today and it not delay delivery?

You can put an order in for one with NAV but because it's on constraint, there's no guarantee that it will be picked up right away. |
