finally got my issue. They claim the Camaro rear end moves around on broken pavement. Huh? They claim the mustang rides better. huh? I can accept some of the criticism. The Camaro is harder to see out of, it's heavier. But some of the scoring is silly. The mustang gets higher marks for it's 5 speed than the Camaro's 6 speed. huh? gotta have it. huh?
You know, when the dimensions of the Camaro were released last year i mentioned disappointment in the weight, and a lot of the people here didn't seem to care. Well, when you compare it to a car that weighs' 300 pounds less, it's going to show up in the corners and acceleration. Here you've got it barely ahead of the mustang in the 0-60. Although check the numbers to 140. The Camaro just walks away as speed increases. What do you think happens when ford puts in the 5.0? I'm really disappointed Chevy couldn't get some weight out of the car. Why does it weigh so much? The Holden's built off of Zeta aren't huge are they? The G8 is only 6 inches longer, and not much different in weight.
Lastly, the "angry" comment makes zero sense. maybe the Viper or charger look angry, but the new Camaro doesn't.

its not only about how many gears it has, but how the transmission is in general. i know a few people who prefer the evo 5 to the sti 6 because of that

When the other camparisons are running about the same, C&D can sell more mags by posting "their Different take" Come on since when does "gotta have" become a comparison. The truth is that alot of the crap these rags put out is biased based on the authors. Each of these cars has their own "somethin". They are the best of their respective brand. Yes my dad is bigger than your dad, but your dad has a better job. And billy's dad married the hottest milf in the neighborhood. Never gonna be a winner. To the Mustang fans, enjoy your cars. We will enjoy ours (with billy's mom in the seat next to us).

I think the C&D test comparison was the first major one to come out that wasn't an outcome of Chevy's organized Camaro PR / Media drive events.

When journalists are flown "all-expenses-paid" out to some nice place, wined and dined, and provided an opportunity to drive a manufacturer's car on roads that show it in the best light, favorable stories are usually the result. After all, they'd like to be invited back to the next one.

It does not surprise me to see the Camaro get less complimentary reviews when the magazines are springing for their own food and gas - it happens to pretty much every car (except seemingly BMWs....).

I just read the article myself. They pretty much favored the Mustang on everything...

I'm looking forward to driving them both back to back to make my own conclusions.

what's weird is last month CandD had the camaro beating the Genesis, and Motor trend had the SS winning. This month it's flipped, and loses both. and i don't get the Motor Trend test where they call the V6s handling "scary" at times. So , it was scary when it was a live axle, and now that it's got IRS it's still scary. With .89g of grip to boot.

not only that, but with it's tall tires, the camaro is really poorly geared.

The gearing could be improved. What really limited GM is the influence of green legislation. It's so easy for Americans to blame something that they don't have to change for pollution, even when the majority of Americans generally believe that pollution is a bad thing. Lifestyle change is hard, and they compensate by demanding cars with more miles per gallon, but no one taxes them for leaving on that inefficient lightbulb when they leave the house. If people realized that cars produce significantly less smog than houses and industrial production, then they might not be so hard on the automotive industry.

In other words, GM did build a superior muscle car despite these limitations. I'll stand by that position. When I get mine, I will happily accept challenges at the track.

I'm just stating that GM pretty much negated any advantages of even offering a 6 spd in the way the car is geared overall in stock form. I agree that it can easily be changed, by car mags, for the most part, don't test drive modded cars.

i have the magazine and it says one of the lows of the camaro is it looks angry... that is a high not a low lol why wouldnt you want it to look angry? this article is BS when over 10 articles crown the camaro winner and 1 says the mustang wins, obviously majority rules haha

Also Chevy truly only have two cars to use. That would be the Camaro and the Vette. Those other cars...really...c'mon...would you buy a Retro chevell ? Hell malibu's are out right now are they not...

Now a modernized 57 split window....thats something to look into, but I think it would fair as well as dodge foray into the retro hotrod. Hmm I cannot remember the name of that car they tried to bring back...
Oh puhleeze, enlighten us as to what a '57 Split Window is?????
