Finished the RJT painted door panels/trim over the weekend. Big thanks to Tony for the DIY and Kev for showing me how to do it in person!
God knows how long it would've taken me to remove and install these without the proper instructions! hahaha:![]()

Excellent work, Jamie. I like it!
I have the stock 2SS/2LT trim panels in the dark silvery color... it seems to me, the way they're done (in addition to the IOM and GM accessory colored ones) is that the actual part is completely transparent, but they spray a flat color on the backside of it to make it look like glass that you're seeing color through, if that makes sense. Would anyone think it's possible to remove the silver paint and spray Hugger Orange instead and still keep the "paint in the background" look of the panels??? Tony? Sanding it off would compromise the clarity of the finished product, methinks. I could be wrong, though... do you think the silver paint would respond to paint thinner? Not to mention, I also am concerned about the dash trim pieces since the plastic strip with the mounting tabs is glued on at JUST the right position so that the part snaps in perfectly. Any input would be appreciated! |

As for the center trim piece ; its not an exact science... and quite easy to get in place. I've pulled the stripping off the back numerous times (hair dryer and thin wire) and am currently working on it to perfect my ABL.. long story short; no problem getting it back on. I have sanded the door panels to allow the abl to extend all the way across the top. I used a real fine grit paper and wet sanded the final coat; came out pretty damn clear. But I can't swear it will.work.

Its double side tape (like 90% of the rest of the car; lol!) It was no easy process pulling it apart, that's for sure. But with heat and an adhesive solvent (and a lot of patience) I think you should be able to get it off.

Offer (2SSRS) sells the whole kit for about $200- it comes with 2 light pipes, 3 LEDs and his own wiring harness which is plug-n-play behind the 4 gauge cluster. There's another company (JDM, I think) who sells a similar light pipe, and you can order the LEDs directly from GM...just gotta manually wire (which can be a PITA) There's threads on here outlining how to do it; and I'm still modifying mine; each person mounts it slightly different. If you check my build thread, you'll see mine near the last page or 2 where I swapped to the white trim panels. I also show where to sand if you wanna continue the ABL on the door panels up to the dash....
