When I put mine on I pulled the idler pulley hard, just not with a pry bar. My belt is smaller so might not allow for the idler to come that close to the tensioner. A smaller belt is going to be tighter and not allow the two pulleys to be pulled that close together.

You're correct. I'm not sure what size belts you boys need. The OD balancer makes mine bigger.. But I use the same belt on a 3.4 and the 3.2.

SS, I'm having no luck moving this pulley over. Tried a skinny screwdriver, not budging...How much do I need to loosen the idler bolt?

Here's what I'm suck with until Thursday then it going to get this problem fixed if I can't and a tune. Can I drive it like this? Should I expect anything? I can't believe I can't get the pulley over, figures I have a painted & ported TB so trying no to scratch that as well.

Dude.

If your belt is too small you won't be able to get it over any more. If you're prying and tightening then that's it. Leave it there or get a size bigger belt.

We may both need bigger belts to get more belt wrap on the blower pulley.

Ok. Loosen the idler bolt until the pulley pops to the right. Then it's loose enough. I would call Ted tomorrow, between 8-12, and check the bent size. Like PQ said, if the bent is short that may be it. You can drive like that. Worse case it would slip but on the street it'll be fine.

Now that I'm seeing the pulley location, it looks miles apart. Nothing like yours. That could also be influenced by the belt now being half it's intended size due to shredding.
One of the photos shows how it looked when I pulled over to check that funny sound coming from the hood. Another shows what's left of the belt.

Nice job on that belt!! Damn!! I'd call Ted and double check that belt number. If is indeed correct then the pulleys need to be closer. If the belts to small you may be maxed. If that's the case move up a belt size and tighten up that gap.

PQ, it was a lot closer and me like an idiot was going to swap out to a billet pulley and move over. The belt size is good, it was much closer before I loosened it.

Ok.

Question.

Don't think I'm being a smart ass but I have to ask now. You are releasing the tension on the tensioner at the same time as prying the idler right?

Can someone help you put tension on that idler pulley? Make sure you're pushing on that pulley square. Otherwise you'll drive it into the bracket and it won't move.

I didn't use the pry method, I just pulled over on it while holding the tension off the tensioner and tightened it down. When I initially installed the blower, I used the pry method 'cause I had a 2nd pair of hands.
Setup is pretty straight forward, nothing fancy. Just a 3.4 pulley on the stock Maggie setup. 1:1 cogs in the back for music.

No need to touch the tensioner unless you are removing or installing a belt. Release the idler bolt, push with pry bar, tighten bolt. That's it.

The only way to get it tight is to pry the shit out of it. With the proper bent they two pulleys can touch. Just a "c" hair between then is where is start. The belt will stretch.
