2013 MyLink ZL1 question
I recently found a 2013 Victory red ZL1 on a local Chevy dealer's lot. I have decided to put down a down payment of 5k for them to hold the car! THE decision is made, I will be driving it off the lot in about a week!
Here is my big question/delemna! It comes with the new MyLink touch screen infotainment system! It, however does not have the "MyLink" navigation with it! From my understanding is, OnStar is still involved with the navigation part of this car! Ok, to the big question, should I not put too much stock into this situation, or should I back out of this deal and put a new ZL1 on order that will come with the navigation option with the MyLink system??? Just wondering because I don't use navigation too too much in the 1st place. And when I sit & think about it, the car I put the money down on, does have all I want in it now, (except nav). On top of that, they are selling it to me for msrp!!! Just wondering about what some of you all think about this? After all, the radio is so pretty, u would think this would be in it from the start! I guess I could always use the nav mode on my iPhone, but well, it would make so much more sense to have it at your fingertips!!! |

My ZL1 doesn't have the navigation as it wasn't available at the time I placed my order and I don't miss it. I rarely need nav but when I do I just use Onstar.

My last car had nav and I never used it. When I bought my ZL1 I was glad I didn't have to pay for something I didn't want!

I love the Nav system I put in my truck but it is Garmin so I was already used to it.
I would let me hold me back from a ZL1 though. You can always use a portable if you don't like the Onstar. The Onstar was pretty good when I went to Mars. It shows up on the HUD for turns. |

Pretty sure any new smartphone that u already pay for has Nav on it. Why pay extra for another one in the car?

On star is a poor substitute for an actual nav system. That being said, if you had an in dash nav before and never used it, then it shouldn't matter.

Well, I am betting by now that you know your way around the LA bayou's pretty well and if that's where your driving 99.9% of the time then buy that baby!! Especially for msrp, there was only one dealership in Houston area @ msrp and it had a looong waiting list. Plus, there is no guarantee you can secure another allocation for a '13 ZL1 so I wouldn't take the chance and miss out on this awesome ride. Worst case, if your smart phone and Garmin both crap out, you can always ask for and the lucky person assisting with directions will be in awe of your machine!! ![]() Let us know about the purchase decision....

Thank you guys so much for all the input, in addition to all that, I have decided that while I am waiting to take delivery, I may as well have the dealer install the footwell/cup holder lighting option!!
I see this as a very nice & needed option because the 2011 SS that I now have seems as though more lighting is needed in this car!!!! Just my opinion!! And, well, if I can figure out how to add a picture into this post, I'd show my new, amazing ZL1!!!!! |

I did not opt for the nav because it was going to delay the build. I like nav even though I don't use it much.
I just wanted the car the waiting was killing me. I will be interested to see the price of the nav unit and if anything will be required beyond the GPS ant and head unit to retrofit. Is the nav off contraint yet?
