Was told by a guy I would consider a Camaro expert to keep traction cntr turned off.

Talked to the tuner that tuned my SS a couple of weeks ago and he told me if I left the traction control off I wouldn't get nearly as much brake dust build up on my wheels. He said the traction control works just about all the time applying braking power which creates more dust.

Can anyone confirm whether or not this is true?

Russ

I would find another so called "expert". If his knowledge about tuning is like his knowledge about how traction control works I would find someone else and have my car retuned imo.

I'd rather clean brake dust than have clergy declare you "dust to dust".

That is an expert, run Forest run. If he tuned your car get it checked by someone else ASAP.

I wouldn't recommend turning it off. Depending on how much power you're making and how hard you drive the car, traction control can work over time and create excessive brake dust keep spinning under control.

I was told by an EMT to keep it on.

Actually, I heard the same thing from a veteran road raacer. Said I should keep the traction control off to avoid prematurely wearing out my expensive brake pads.

Your tuner is correct, traction control uses the brakes and throttle to control tire slippage. The less the brakes are applied, the less dust will be on your wheels.

I personally turn mine off on my SS just after starting it.

Don't know if you have kept up with this forum tons, but from what I have seen in my 6 months here or so is that when TC comes off, people end up in ditches, in poles, on sideways or curbs. I say keep it on and tell this guy he is no expert...
