I'm sorry that this is breaking your balls so much. Not trying to rub it in but I can do this alone in about two minutes so I'm thinking it's something we are all overlooking. First step is to loosen that 15mm bolt that holds the idler in place. Once that is loosened the belt tension will snap the idler pulley all the way to the right (assuming you are facing the car). Now is when you apply the force with a pry tool of some kind until the idler pulley and the super tensioner pulley just about touch. While keeping tension on the pry tighten that 15mm bolt back up and you're done.

That's the problem I can't find a spot to leverage the pry bar, first attempt I bent my throttle body rim. I just can't believe I'm having such bad luck with this..Who knows maybe the belt is to small? Do you have number on your belt for me to check?

What are you using for a pry bar? It sounds like it's to thick. You can use the actually TB body and not the lip.

On the belt. What size pulley? Any change in the balancer?

Can you snap a pic of your pry tool in action? Maybe I can see if something is wrong.

There is an empty screw hole to the right of the idler. Just use a screw and pry against that. I wouldn't use the TB as a leverage point.

Yeah but advice from 11 second cars is never taken seriously!!

But seriously. Give it a try. That's what the manual says. I don't think NW envisioned us morons using his tb to pry shit off of!!!

I've used it all screwdriver, 1 ft pry bar, and that hole that there I don't know what thread size to use for it. Of course I have a painted TB so I have to be really careful not to scratch it. But reading how easy you guys do it is really frustrating me. I'm not getting the leverage on the TB to move the idler. Maybe the belt is to small ?

I put a towel over my TB then the pry bar. I'd use like at least a 2' one. A 1' won't get enough leverage. It's takes a shit ton of force to push the idler tight.

Post the bely number and the pulley size.

Try a M8/9 with a 1.25 pitch or 3/8's. I remove my intake tube and TB when I have to tighten the belt.
