Since reverse is a lower gear than 1st, that is why it is recommended.
I was being sarcastic.

As I explained before, I thought reverse was taller than 1st on the LS3. My mistake, I apologize.

I mostly just use the E Brake.

But I put in gear every now and then when park on a hill.
the reason they say reverse is because reverse is geared lower than the tall first gear. it wont matter unless your on a steep hill but thats why they say reverse.
i always leave it in first and set the parking brake unless im at the track. no parking brake on hot rotors.
The parking brakes are drum brakes in back of the rotors, not the rotors and calipers.

FYI always let your car settle on the parking brake, then release the clutch in 1st or reverse.

In reverse with parking brake always. Hill or not, doesn't matter.

I leave it in whatever gear I stopped in. ebrake is weak, gotta wrench it to ” really” engage it. Ebrake is pretty awkward in my opinion, feels cheap too.

Typically when parking I always put it in the gear which you will be heading when you start back up. However I know that in the 2005 corvette manual transmission you had to have the car in reverse to completely shut down power to the car. Have not noticed the part in the manual for the Camaro about the M6 being in reverse. May have an affect if you park it for several days or extended time with running down the battery, could be the same deal they had with the 05 Corvette. I don't know why they would go back to that if they did because the reverse off in the Corvette was a huge problem.

My Camaro is an automatic, but I've driven manuals forever before this. NEVER, NEVER park in neutral, even with a parking/emergency brake. I've had a brake give out and my car rolled. Luckily, I had the wheels turned and just rolled into the lawn and not into traffic, but it was a very odd feeling walking out and seeing the car backed into the lawn and not parked on the road where I left it.

Dad who drove trucks for a while told me ALWAYS, first or reverse NEVER neutral. And I now live by that.

In an automatic it would be a no-brainer. PARK. In my manual on a flat surface I put it in neutral with the e-brake on. On a hill it's in reverse with the e-brake. I also set the hand brake before releasing the clutch (as stated above).

eBrake + 1st or Reverse, but I put it neutral right before I start the car.

Yep, as others said, never neutral. People and cars have been injured. Recent examples:

Car rolls after parking brake fails

Quote:
Mueller said he set the parking brake, left the transmission in neutral and turned the vehicle off. Mueller said he then heard a loud pop, and the vehicle started to roll down the hill.

Woman run over, pinned under her own car near Lake City

Quote:
She reportedly didn’t set the parking brake and was struck at low speed by the front of her car, knocking her down and pinning her underneath.

In my manual, I park in first, autos in park, and I use the emergency brake if there's even a slight incline.

Yep, when the C6 came out (2005 model) there were several complaints about batteries going dead when not parked in reverse.

Not sure exactly what the issue was, but it seemed it was only on the first year C6.

1st or reverse, doesn't matter. both are strong gears that will hold the car in place on all but the steepest hills. and you should always use your emergency (actually parking) brake with a manual. completely unnecessary with an auto.

If the engine compression was stronger than the parking brake, you would be able to push a car with the parking brake on and you wouldnt be able to push a manual to start it....and that's just incorrect.

I always use my parking brake and sometimes I leave it in gear.
