I wonder if you can adapt an aftermarket navigation antenna. Then you can put it anywhere not having to rip half your car apart to replace the onstar antenna on the roof. In my daily driver, i put an aftermarket nav in and just put the antenna in the dash. Works perfect and you never see it.

I am curious about the possibility of aftermarket antenna too...I don't feel like ripping my headliner etc out to change the antenna...if I can plug n play and just use after
aftermarket antenna then I am soooooo game for this swap in my 2012! Ofer you the man!

It will not work on older cars now yours may but dont know, the cars with out factory camera's dont have the wires going to the BCM and it controlled by the BCM.

The antenna's dont go to the head unit, they go to the XM box first then the head unit so i dont think they will work.

That sucks about camera as I want todo this and was hoping to add camera at the same time!

So i don't want the xm as it sucks in my town so I won't me renewing it... Would I need the new antenna?

You just tell me a list of what I need and I got a guy that will put it in with me.

I wish GM would have enough thought when they come out with this stuff to say, hey were not putting it into next years model until we figure out how to retrofit last years model cause they have to know people are going to want it and willing to buy the parts and are going to feel bummed if they didn't wait a year. they already knew we wanted this stuff like the push button start, DUH!

While I understand your sentiment, in the grand scheme of things with regard to the amount of Gen5 Camaros that have been sold and how many want to incorporate new MY changes I think is very small.

This is a DIY forum and most people who own a Gen5 are happy with what they bought and are not interested in retro fitting other MY changes.

You can still add the camera and mirror, it just has to be the '11 mirror. The '12 mirror is tied to the BCM, the 11 is not.
