Is there any ACTUAL fix for squealing brakes yet?
I have a 2010 2ss and my brakes have squealed since I got it. I have the brembos and I would rather not have my car squeal and screech when pulling into a parking spot or stopping at a red light than to have high performance brakes. I have heard anything from lubing everything up, upgrading to new pads, having the stock pads replaced, to squeezing a couple drops of vegetable oil on the pad. Its really getting on my last nerve.

I have heard that using different brake pads will fix the squealing.

I don't have the problem and neither 2 other Camaros at work. It is not normal and no one should live with them.

Yeah the whole "good brakes always screech" thing doesn't really fly with me. I had nice brakes on my dodge charger and they never did it. My step dad has a 2010 Suburban LTZ which is bigger and heavier than a camaro and they don't do it. I'm taking it to the dealer to have them lube everything again and reset the pads so hopefully that works. If not I'm going to get better brake pads and if that doesn't work I am going to demand a whole new brake set up.

it is common knowledge that high performance brakes make noise. I can't see how people think this is something new to the world?
If you brake heavy it should not make the noise. It is during a specified pressure that the noise comes from the pads. It is due to the metals used in the pads that causes this. Thus why ceramic pads doesn't suffer from this problem... but they also don't grip as well as perfomance pads do.

yeah exactly. I know 2 other people with camaros, same year and same package as mine and theirs dont squeal. I know when you brake heavy it doesn't squeal but correct me if I'm wrong but you dont brake hard when your in stop and go traffic do you? do you brake hard when your pulling through a drive thru or up to the gas pump? No. I would much rather give up having high performance brakes than to listen to the screeching and squealing every single day! hopefully it gets fixed soon

![]() They are "more prone" to squealing or making noise then a lot of other pads. Brake dust can cause a large portion of this which high performance brakes pads tend to put off more brake dust then others. If one keeps their car clean and the brake areas clean from oils, dust, dirt etc.. this can help prevent a large portion of what could be causing the noise most here. Sometimes if they are too hot or too cold you can get brake noise as well. If you are hearing a high pitch squeal... it could be that your pads are worn down to about 20% which is caused by the little piece of metal manufactures put on the pads to help indicate pad wear. make sure that is not what you are hearing. (these can also be overly bent and start making noise at about 50% wear) Quote:
Switch to ceramic pads and you'll notice less noise and a lot less brake dust also. Performance pads will produce a larger amount of brake dust which can cause the issue a lot of the time. Mine get noisey time to time until i do a very good cleaning of the rotor and brake caliper area with a brush.
