Switch to synthetic??
Bought my car used last year at 38k miles. I'm up to nearly 53k (its my DD) and I'm thinking of switching to synthetic oil. Considering the dealer has been doing free oil changes (conventional), should I make the switch or is it too late in the game?

Never huts to switch to synthetic, especially in these engines.

ALWAYS run full syn in these.....the timing chains and tensioners are far to susceptable to wear and deposits...only keep the owners manual reccomended blend in for break-in....full syn only after that.

That's what I have read . Mobil 1 is cheap at Walmart for 6 quarts. I get the PF-2129 for like $4.

I use fully synthetic Mobil 1 0W-30. Always try to use synthetic oil. It will help your motor in the long run

I use Castrol Edge Syntec from the 1st oil change.
Then found out that the additive in it are easily break-down after 5000km, oil gets dirty and vehicle performance gets a little weaker, and there is nothing really special in Syntec compare to other synthetic oil like Mobil 1 or Quaker State, then I decided to go with something top-shelf. Tried Amsoil Signature Series 5W-30 after research on the net and definitely love it so far. |

If you don't use the GM/AC Delco 5w30 DEXOS synthetic blend (for v6, full synth for v8) it will most likely void your powertrain warranty. Just a heads up.
