GM is not going to recall the computers. If where going to they would of done it to my car since it is the car that GM and everyone found out about the octane table issues. GM engineers spent a day with my car in 2009 and finally found the issue towards the end of the day.
When they reset my computer to high octane table my car was faster than the car they drove down to Eufaula, AL that all the car magazines had tested when the Camaro came out. |

I have the '12 45th Vert, L99. I did the fuse pull. It seemed to work initially but I think the valve clatter on acceleration may have been interpreted as knock and reset to the low octane setting. Does that seem possible or make sense?

I've been told that if you're tuned, you no longer have to worry about the fuse pull

Also, it is important to know that GM uses a spec fuel to calibrate their cars and trucks, NOT E10 pump gas. Your car will always pull timing from the factory high octane map, the table has too much timing for today's pump gas. |

So I'd say yes it's possible.

I called the dealer and he said that they filled my car with 87 octane due to harder times. After being nervous about pulling the fuses (worried that it might change something else), I have finally pulled the fuses tonight. I have read the majority of the 82 forum pages on this and spoke to a couple other members and have been reassured. I will let everybody know how it worked for me tomorrow or Saturday.

Sorry but I should've clarified, I am running 93 octane but am unsure what the dealer put in, so I did the fuze pull. I have the L99 and am dealing with some valve or lifter chatter, that is apparently a "common" occurrence on that motor but not a knock in the traditional sense. So I was wondering if that lifter issue was enough to reset the computer to the lower octane fuel table?

Sorry but one more question, I have only had my vert for about 2 weeks now but i havent been able to break the tires loose or "light them up" in my 2SS Vert. I would think with all the advertised torque, it would be hard to not break them loose. Am I missing something or might there be an issue with her that I am missing? I do have the lifter chatter normally associated with the L99.

Well, having bought a used 2010 SS (LS3) about three weeks ago, I decided to try the fuse pull last night. Especially since I didn't know what had been put in the car over the past 9,500 miles. This morning, I put the fuses back in and what a difference in idle and responsiveness!!
My drive to work is all traffic lights and low speed limits. I had been averaging 13.4 mpg. This morning, I reset everything on the DIC and by the time I got to work, I was averaging 20.1 mpg. This is going to save me a ton of cost in fuel on the trip I am going on in a couple of weeks from Milwaukee to Georgia!! |
