Auto Light Setting

I just bought a 2SS with Halogens and it seems that the Auto setting is keeping the headlights on all the time instead of when it gets dark. Is there anyway to fix this gremlin myself? Also where are the DRL's supposed to be since it has halogens? Thanks

If I recall correctly the 2SS "fog lights" are the daytime running lights. Try turning the switch to the off position and then back to auto. Just a guess

He has a non-RS. IIRC, the dimly lit halogens ARE your DRLs. I cannot wait until people figure out how to disable them with a switch. Need them on for inspection!

If it's non-RS, then your halogens are the DRLs, just slightly dimmed. When night hits, they go to normal brightness.

The RS DRLs are the foglights.

That's only with the RS package.

Is there a DRL relay under the hood someplace? On the GTO you just pull that relay and it kills the DRL, and doesn't affect anything else. Of course the Camaro could be way different.

Are the DRLs dim halogens? It was my understanding that non-RS cars would be like most other GM cars and use the front amber indicators.

On my Cobalt, the amber turn indicators are the DRLs, but my auto-headlights are really screwy. The auto-headlight system also controls the interior lights, but on sunny days my interior lights will go into night mode (so the radio display and DIC fade to invisibility in the bright sunlight) and the headlights will come on. The auto-headlights only work correctly on overcast days. I tried getting it fixed but the tech said that's normal operation. I call bull on that, but I haven't gotten it over to a different dealer yet. I'll try again next time it goes into service. I have a feeling it has to do with the light detector dome's placement behind the A-pillar, and if that is the case the Camaro solved that problem with front and center placement on the dash.

if you all the way left it should turn them off. but cars in the last 8 years or so are required to have daytime running lights on them i think. And most GM cars that ive had since then, the lights run automatically.

I was informed of that when I asked my dealer today when I went and had lojack installed. Thanks for the help guys! I do hope that there is a way to disable this function in the future. Until then I am going to just leave it.
