ZL-1 Sunday Drive
Morning All! I took the beast out sunday for a blast, and as I was driving down the highway I couldn't help but think about all the chatter about the ZL being to heavy over priced and how the mustang is better and BLAH BLAH BLAH........... It realy hit me how much fun this car is if your driving at 35mph or 135mph. the biggest was who cares what car is faster or lighter, For me I could care less If I got my doors blown off by a honda civic! The car feels great looks good and puts a grin on my face you couldnt sandblast off! Not trying to take anything away from all you folks that race and stuff I know the speed and weight and competition is important as it should be

For me, couldn't agree more. I track my zl1, also love the drive around town, the car has the whole package, most of all nobody talks about how safe the car is to drive, for me weight means safe, to many meatballs on the road today that can crash into you at any time, The beast will protect you, so i will give up weight for saftey. You can be the best driver around, its the other guy you have to watch for,The zl1 can take a hit better than most cars today, WEIGHT OF THE ZL1 CAN SAVE LIVES

Totally agree. You buy the car you like which I did also. No regrets and thoroughly enjoying my Zl1. Do not really care if the GT500 had 800hp I would still buy this car. Both cars are great and the comments on some of the forums sometimes are incorrect and out of control.
I like the poster that says "Ain't no muscle like Detroit Muscle" because there have been some great cars developed and produced . |

Totally agree. The ZL1 is THE Camaro and finally getting to drive this car after months of anticipation puts me in a happy place - heck just cleaning this car is cool. As far as pony cars, the ford owners will always buy mustangs, Mopars people the Challenger \ 'Cudas and the Chevy folks will always buy Camaros. Few potential buyers IMO are swayed solely on hp, 1/4 mile times or lap times. For those who are not committed to a brand, the total value vs. price plus the styling makes their decision. If the ZL1 was priced $10K less, more swing buyers would have a Chevy. I'm glad all 3 pony cars are still around, I'm glad I can beat on mustangs and Mopars for fun, I'm glad there is a huge parts aftermarket for those who want to go faster and I'm glad a 6th gen Camaro is in the works. Now, if the price of fuel would drop down to about $1.25, I'd be really happy!!

No matter what you drive, at the end of the day it's all about smiles per miles. Nothing else matters.

Love the post and Camaro is deeper than HP or 1/4 miles ........... and as a teenager in the late 90s who drove a V6 97 Camaro ..... I know all about being happy in the skin your in. While all my buddies were into sub-compacts with wings, I was happy driving the car that (was not fast) but had Camaro written across my dash like it use to be written on my bed room wall posters.
Again, I like the ZL1........ no wait I LOVE the ZL1..... I just feel we left some on the table in this generation. And no I have not driven one yet....... but I think we ALL would have a little bigger smile with a few more ponies under our hood then in front of our windshields. That being said, I believe in sticking with the girl you brought to the dance. So for me, not sure if it will be the ZL1 or a 6th gen ZL1/Z28

We all have our personal preferences and that should be pretty much what it boils down to. One day, hopefully soon, I will have a ZL1 to appreciate on a weekend drive.

Well said, and to add to that. My wife was telling our friends
recently that she never saw me so happy as she did when we attended camarofest. Just kinda brought back my youth of when I drove my first exciting car back in 1977.
