engine cover wont fit in? v6ers. help?

idk where should i start. hmmmm. i know its just a matter of taking out the oil cap, but.....

so couple months ago i installed the black ice-olator that i bought from BNRacing and a strut brace from BMR.

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showpo...4&postcount=40

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showpo...6&postcount=20

the mechanic told me when they finished installed the black ice-olator that the engine cover wont fit on my car because there's no more gap between the Intake manifold to the strut brace.

so is there any solution to make the engine cover fit in? i know its not a big deal for me, but its just looks kinda ugly to me without the engine cover.

do i need to change to other brand for the strut brace? or what?

With the added strut brace, I don't know that you have a fix for the way it is now. When I added the ICE-Olator I had to add a, extra 5/8" nut to the existing little pillar (for lack of a better word, the metal thing that sticks up that the engine cover pops into) to make it long enough to fit with the extra height.

You may need to look at another strut tower brace with more clearance. However, I don't know which one would have any more clearance; I don't think it varies too much between manufacturers though I could be wrong. You'd need to do some measuring.

See where it rubs and break out the Dremel tool! For the cover, not the brace. But like Belle said, you'll need some sort of extension for it to lock down securely.

Had the same combo, only had a 1/4" clearance between the plenum cover and brace. Ended up taking the brace off.

I haven't been able to tell a difference. I put mine on more for the wow factor - if it's got a strut brace it's got to be fast - right?

The OEM strut brace, standard on 2011+convertibles, will fit and give plenty of clearance, but:

1. You'll have to drill more holes in your strut towers to mount it.

2. You'll have to use spacers between it and the towers since the shape of the towers are different

i have a black ice and a plenum spacer installed, have to take off the engine cover. I think the engine cover is blocking the heat to release from inside the hood somehow anyway.
I'll have a strut tower brace soon but still debating about OEM+spacer or Hotchkis.

yeah autozone's guy told me about this thing. he also owned a v6. but sometimes if u go to a carshow doesn't it look ugly without an engine cover. well, i dont know why the oem just dont seems very pratical becuase u just drilled the strut tower without tightening the bolts on top of the strut tower.
