If GM does release a Chevelle, it will probably have 4 doors. Chevy has enough cars with 2 doors and 4 door cars typically sell better. I can see the Chevrolet SS turning into a Chevelle in the future but don't count on it.

It's funny the 4 door classics don't sell as well but new 4 door sedans do . Either way it needs to be a chevelle

The Chevelle is officially dead....or it's GM's ace in the sleeve.
I'm glad the Chevelle didn't get the same treatment as the Impala...or the Monte Carlo in the past 15-18 years. GM tried to smash the Impala into a Camry/Accord fighter in the early 2000's and ended up with a FWD econo-sedan that literally bored the pants off most Americans. The Monte also sang a low-key for the better part of 10 years until it finally got the SS treatment with a nice V8 in 2006. GM killed that one off shortly thereafter. Now that GM is back on track to developing TRULY exciting cars, the Chevelle could be a future show-stopper, or.... it could go on to be one of the most favorite muscle cars of GM past that never gets a modern reincarnation. I really have no indication either way. GM seems content to keep the SS moniker alive, so maybe we'll see new models with SS trim. A new Impala has been confirmed and it's quite a looker. I'm not sure it resembles anything from its history, but it's got some of the same sharp lines as the Camaro, which is a very welcome design direction. |

If the Chevelle comes back and is based around a modern day Malibu or a sedan I'd not buy one. At least have the option for a coupe. I hate four door cars, plain and simple. I'd love to see something like soloknight's photo up top.
If it has Chevelle on it it needs to looks sporty and not Genesis coupe sporty. It needs to be wide and low like the Camaro and have some of the same sleek but old school look to it. Oh and it need to have some serious power and be somewhat more expensive than your "average" sportscar. Maybe something in the $45k to $65k range to give it some appeal after the first year. I'd hate to see an old classic redefined into a car that I pass everyday with just anyone driving it. Maybe I'm asking too much? It's just my opinion so take it lightly

I just can't get into this design. There are a lot of good elements, but I get a Chevy Volt vibe from this. In a recent thread someone mentioned that the three chief designers responsible for the C5 no longer work for GM. I think one went to VW. I wish GM could get them back. There's definitely a different Volt-inspired design aesthetic going on at GM now and I personally don't like it.

A Chevelle SS if came back out, shouldnt look "retro" but shouldnt look new either. Should be a 2 door sedan, big SS badges, and a huge freakin engine, Naturally Aspirated ofcourse. Also should be a limited production 3-4 years. No options, except trany and wheel size available, maybe a few cosmetics. True enthusiast vehicle. But thats me. I'd kill for an old 454 SS all original.

I wanna see them pull off a Chevelle that looks good with 18" wheels. None of this 20+" nonsense. They made them look spectacular 40 years ago with 15" wheels. I see no reason they can't with 18"s now.
When vehicles are designed around wheels that large, they end up looking over-inflated, with a lot of odd proportions. But, TBH, I don't want it back. They'll probably screw it up like they did with the GTO. Leave it be. Last edited by _Nick_; 08-24-2012 at 11:59 PM. |
