It was a comment based in facts. Look at the spreadsheet.

I have a CAI brand cold air intake. I added a scoop from RX Performance. I didn't buy it because I'm a sheeple. I, and many others, purchased it because it works. I'm happy.

And, as an added, unadvertised bonus, it sounds great when rapping the LFX engine out past 5000 rpm, just unbelievable.

Oh yeah, not like I really care, but my highway, steady state mileage is up a bit, too.

So there.

There are a few others that do the same without the cost. Each person will have an opinion, but we are all with the same opinion on the 30HP. No way!
Even without the scoop it produces stronger numbers than most every other system. The scoop just makes it even better.

based on all the manufacture claims, with all my mods, I believe I have added about 300 hp total. (and that is not counting how much HP my stickers have added)

NO CAI makes 30 RWHP on N/A motors.
Now ZL1s I would believe that.

While I think it's a decent CAI, it's not the best out there. Their claims are a little misleading as well. It doesn't produce the lowest IAT's but it does appear to produce the lowest IAT's possible. A couple if the better CAI's produce ambient IAT's as well. I've yet to see a OTR intake dyno sheet produce anywhere close to their claims. Even VR posts "DYNO PROVEN" on their site but they admitted here that their HP claims were derived from 1/4 mile improvements. Their reasoning was that no one can simulate the air on the front of the car, for a dyno run, to gain what they say.

What? It doesn't, but it does? How does that work?

I have a New Era on the way to play with for a week or two. It will be interesting to see what it does compared to "the competition".

Which systems produce lower than possible IAT's?

From what i've noticed...every manufacturer or maker of CAIs have always advertised "up to", but do not advertise actual hp gains. Also, you need to read the fine print where it says, "results will vary." I have owned several cars and used CAI's only to get better performance and throttle response, not for horsepower gain. I rely on heads/cam for real horsepower gain. I'm sure with a tune, you may gain that hp number they advertise.

I think the "up to" may be to avoid a potential lawsuit due to "false advertising"... As bad as it sounds, almost everyone wants to sue anyone for anything now a days, and it doesn't hurt to cover you butt. Ask me know I know Some people's kids

"results will vary" depending on location, weather, conservative or stingy dynos... Way to many variables to just say, "Buy our intake, and you WILL gain 30hp"... That would leave a lot of unhappy people modding their cars in the world.

The ad read, "Gain up to 30rwhp & 28lb/ft rwtq!" Did anyone besides me see 22hp gain in the link to their site? When I read the link I saw 22hp+another 8 with tune. Maybe 22 is attainable, maybe not, but they aren't claiming 30 from the intake alone the way I read it.
