Track strategies
Just thought I would make a thread in this section for us track guys. If you have any special techniques you wanna share on launching or burnouts or anything just post them up here
What rpm do you guys launch at? I usually launch about 1800-2000 rpms How long of a burn out? I usually spin my tires in the water a second so when I get out of the water pit both wheels will spin and not just one since I don't have a LSD Posi rear end yet. An then smoke the tires pretty good and slowly roll out of it How many of y'all are using line lock on automatics? Manuals? I hope to break 12's this Friday might if I can make it out to the track! Alex

When I launch I usually launch with the TC on the when out of 1st I turn it off. Great torque management technique.

Launch at around 1800 but I may start trying to launch harder. I've always kept TC on but now that I have a LSD and nitto DR's I may try launching with it off and seeing how that goes. I basically do the same for my burn out.
I've thought about getting line locks. I'm debating if it's worth it, if I'll go to the track enough. I usually only go twice a year.

Interesting, and not much wheel spin? Even with the new rear end and TC on I still get some wheel spin. Well I did with the OD pulley, not sure now.

Warm those DRs up and launch with TC with your new differential. I would then just launch at lower RPM if track prep isn't very good. The SS differental makes a world of difference when launching.

Yeah but the thing is Houston Raceway Park (now Royal Purple Raceway) is known for having one of the better NHRA track preps in the US. Maybe I'm not heating them up enough

That would be my guess. Really let them have it. Remember to roll into the gas, don't just stab it when you release the break.
