I don't abuse my car at all. In fact I am probably just as careful and caring for my car, if not more than older Camaro owners. People like to judge right away over age, but disregard the fact that some of us are actually paying for it on our own.
i drive fast here and there. but never around anyone. I take great care of my car though. wash it all the time and just waxed it yesterday. maintenance as required. i always wave to fellow camaro owners, and enjoy lots of great cars.

I get crap about it not being an SS also, but paying for this myself, its my DD and it would just be unethical for my needs. Gas mileage/insurance wise. I plan on modding my car later down the road.

I love the car, and that's worth it to me!

always get compliments on how clean it looks, also get compliments on the look, sound, professionalism of the few mods i already have.

First, i didn't direct it to you. Second, if you bought your car and you handle all the payments from funds YOU earned, congrats. You took offense to the silver spoon comment so it leads me to believe that you had help from mom and dad.

I was referring to the punks i've witnessed, just drove by someone today who, when he saw me, gave me this shit eating grin/constipated/i just shit my pants look, as if he thought his camaro was better than mine or some shit. there are a lot of assholes on the road. alot are young kids. i will continue to stereotype people on the road by their age.

I ride motorcycles and there is some culture that says you need to wave to every motorcycle that passes. Well I might as well ride with one hand one the grip and one hand in the air. Have you seen the number of motorcycles on the road? I just never saw the point. Now don't get me wrong. I am friendly to other motorcyclists, and I will stop to assist one broke down on the side of the road, but wave at everyone I see. I don't rhink so. I have chevy pickup. I don't wave at every chevy pickup I see. My point being is, don't take offense if I don't wave back. I still love you.

My eyes are constantly scanning the road for possible hazards, I will notice other vehicles, however I'm watching what their vehicle is doing, I usually don't pay attention to what the driver is doing. If I think I know who's driving, I will wave, or if it's another enthusiast like myself, I will try to wave if I have the opportunity.

It also is sometimes difficult to see a driver in their vehicle until they're already passed, being lower to the ground and wherever the sun may be and all.

Here I've only had problems with a few imports and mustangs. The other Camaro owners either wave or just go about there business. I love all camaros. And the 4th gen holds a very special place in my heart. I try to wave at them all but there are just times when youre not paying attention or its far to late to get your window down to wave back (i have 15% tint on my windows so I have to roll it down or passers by wont see me wave). So please dont take it as being snubbed because you didnt get a wave back.
There are lots of different types of people out there driving camaros and not all of them are enthusiasts. But just because you think the car is ratty looking doesnt mean that car isnt being taken care of or is less than yours. Never judge a book by its cover. Sometimes those cars are in the stages of being modded, the drivers may not have the money to fix it but dont want to get rid of there beloved camaro, or is primarily a weekend car for the track. I have a friend that has been working on his 95 Z28 for years and just finally finished the rebuild. On the outside it doesnt look very pretty right now with it's mismatched painted panels (it's awaiting it's new paint job) but under the hood it is a monster!

No help. Mother was the cosigner because i didn't have enough credit, but that's where it ended. And I took that comment hard, because I've heard a lot of shit this week regarding my age. I was supposed to be a judge this week for a HUGE car show in Newport, KY. They called today saying they didn't need our group of people to judge, because we were too young and wouldn't judge correctly.

By this, I mean, our age group is "Profiled". Cops, Other Car Enthusiasts, Car Salesman. Our age group, according to most of these people, are: Irresponsible, Spoiled, A Bad Influence, Unexpirienced Drivers, Speeders, Wreckless, Unappreciative, etc.

It's like a stereotype for our age, group of people in general(younger crowd who work hard for a nice car with a huge love for the car scene).

We started a car scene in Downtown Cincinnati, we get a huge selection of tons of different cars, last week we had about 85 cars. Overall we have had more than 450 different people show up there at any given week. We focus I entertainment, involving our cars, for very cheap or free. We have our own Drag Night, at thornhill dragstrip, where they only charge our group $5 per car, due to the amount of people that we bring in. We call our group "PROFILED RACING".

If anyone is in the area, please feel free to message me, I can give more details. Very great time. but thats not what the post was about, just to describe what goes on.

I do work my ass off. I haven't had any help from anyone besides a volunteer cosigner. However, I'm don't even fight with people anymore about it.

I understand it shouldn't be a big deal. Hell. I think someone helps you pay for your car payment, every month.
I will say though, its hard to take pride in something you work very hard for everyday with people putting you down, and calling you a liar.

Listen, nobody is saying you don't work to contribute and help pay for your sh*t. You also have to understand getting a co-signer means you either don't have established credit or good credit, which means you are inexperienced in the financial realms. This is not an insult, it's just a fact. No 18, 19, 20 year old has enough experience in anything in life at that point. I'm approaching 30 and I still know that i don't know sh*t.

Good for you, paying for your car. That is respectable. I wouldn't say you completely earned the car, because again you are piggybacking off your moms credit to basically make a deal to pay back money to whichever bank, who obviously doesn't trust you. Just being blunt here.

Beyond that no matter what a person's age, I don't instantly think 'Oh, that kid looks 21...let's go tell him how stupid he looks'. I respect everyone, and their actions determine how I respond going forward. Speak to me with respect and intelligence, you get a cool response. Speak to me like a moron or with disrespect, and you receive the sh*t response.

Anyone can work a full time minimum wage job and afford a camaro...the question is how do you survive? Do you pay rent or on a mortgage? Do you pay gas, electric, sewage, property taxes? Do you pay for your own food, clothes, other miscellaneous services like cell phone, subscriptions? That's also another strike to someone's financial stability profile.

Bottom line it's good you have a job and pay on your shit, but people are going to stereotype you regardless of what you want or think and for good reason. Stereotyping has saved my ass countless times. Enjoy your car, ignore the dummies and move on in life.

What's this about spoiled rich kids? I sure wish I was a spoiled rich kid when I was younger Good for them though...

Anyways....I almost never wave to other drivers; not because I'm trying to be a d*ck, but I'm almost never paying attention to other drivers. I'm more focused on the road in front of me.

Such hash words. You...ARE A DICK! I have met nicer Mustang owners. and that is saying a lot. in all seriousness. You have to start somewhere. Obviously you have to have a cosigner for the first thing you buy to build credit.

And yes...i pay for all of my own shit! I pay all of my own bills and live off of MY wages. It's none of you damn business anyways. That is really rude.

I'm done here.

Take it easy.. He's giving you his opinions. You can chose to agree or to disagree.

I understand where you are coming from because I've been through that. My response is a little different. I don't mouth back, I like to let people realize their own mistakes or misjudgments.

For example, when I went to take a look at my car, I would say I was "profiled." The salesman immediately came over to me when he saw me looking at the car because I had my father with me at the time. We start going over the car and what not.. At this point in time, he was mainly talking to my dad. When my father mentioned that he has nothing to do with the purchase of the car, I could tell the salesman's attitude quickly changed. When I asked him to test drive the car, I got the impression of "why are you wasting my time." When we got done with the drive, I told him I was interested in the car and that there was a very good possibility that I was going to buy the car. I gave him all of my personal information to see what kind of rates they would offer. Well he left for awhile and then he came back stating that due to my age he was unable to get me approved for a loan and that it would most likely take a cosigner. I basically told him.. "Ok, not a problem. I'll be back in a couple of days to purchase the car." I did exactly that. Except, he wasn't in at the moment when I came back. I found out from the General Manager of the dealership that he didn't even run my information through. They couldn't find any records that I had even looked at the car! Anyways, I ended up completing the sale with the original salesman. It was amazing... He was a totally different guy than the first night when I looked at the car. Very humble. I almost felt like the President by the way he was treating me.

Therefore, I have to say actions speak louder than words. You can argue with people on an online forum, but you wont shut them up until you prove them wrong. Even when proven wrong, there will always be some that will not show any respect or admit to their wrong. You just have to take the mature route and ignore it.

Age is just a number... I know plenty of people in their 30's, 40's and even 50's who are no more mature than some who are under 21. It sounds to me like you have your head on straight. So, keep it up!
