New Kid!
I might just be a new Camaro owner! It will be my first new car....while I wish it was an SS....its my first car, so a 2013 1LT will do just fine for me! If the sales guy I was talking to sticks to his quote...I will have the car Saturday!! Im so excited and have learned a lot reading up on this forum. I do have one question though. I really like how mean the dual exhaust ss camaro's sound...is it possible to make mine sound like that without looking like I'm trying too hard?

You can do some exhaust work on your v6. It wont sound as deep as the SS but it will be louder and probably a little more raspy. But I have a heavily modded SS so I'm just shooting in the dark here when it comes to the v6.

Welcome to C5. There are many exhaust options for you. You can google "camaro v6 exhaust" on youtube and get and idea of what you like. Borla and Flowmaster are most popular. Congrats on new ride. Great choice.

A dual-mode performance exhaust (NPP) has recently become available for the LT. Not sure how it sounds yet because it is new & no one has it yet on the LT. This may be an option for you or you can do aftermarket.
Sorry, I can't help you too much there as I am new, too. There are, however, many others here that will be able to give you some good advice. |

First, Congrats on your new purchase, and good choice with going with the LT, I had one a loooooooooongg time ago and the one your getting has almost twice the horsepower, but these cars are so well designed it doesn't "feel" like it's going that fast.
2ndly, I've listened to alot of V6 exhaust note and I've yet to encounter a modded one that comes close to the SS. You'll get a lot of input here and I would recommend listening to ones on here or youtube to get an idea, but it would be much better listening to it in person. Good luck with your new car!

def. going to do more research. Although youtube searches for LT 2013 exhaust are slim pickin's. I'll see what I can come up with, searching 2012. I may just stick with stock for a while bc I am just so in love <3 even if it sounds like just a *baby*

C5 is hands down one of the best forums out there, there is a ton of helpful people here. Most of them would give you the shirt off their backs if you needed it.
That's how a Camaro should sound, it wakes my neighbors up.

Do you think you will be happy later on with the V6? I think they are awesome cars but there are a lot of people trading theirs in on the forums for V8's. You could probably get a GM certified used 2SS for the same price as a new LT. If the V8 isn't a big deal then definitely get the new model. At some point though the new car feeling will fade and you will just have a used 1LT. I do not mean to be disrespectful of your choice I am just being honest with you.

Solo makes a great sounding exhaust. I live the way it sounds on my car. A v6 will never sound like a v8...just won't. But you can make it sound awesome with a good aftermarket exhaust.
Don't fell pressure about the v8 vs v6...get what you want and makes you happy, and what won't be repoed in 8 months. If you consider a v8 you need to think about all the costs. Just be smart and enjoy owning an awesome car. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Honestly YUBslow, I have never had that new car feeling, but i betcha I have it right now...and I don't even have the car yet
. I have had quite a few people tell me to buy used....but I've never had a *new car* so I have those starry eyes towards the 2013s. I'm thinking its one of those lessons everyone has to learn the hard way. I do love that deep raspy sound of the SS and I just cannot accept that "rice rocket" sound. So, I'm thinking I'll just stay with stock until I hear one that sparks my interest.

you might be surprised by some of the prices for SS's in the member classified section, I've seen some relitively cheap cars modded and bone stock with low miles, just a thought, you'll never get a v6 to sound like or perform like a V8. Just a little food for thought, I'm averaging just over 25 MPG with my SS, only mod is GMPP muffllers, and yes they helped her breath easier, added 2MPG and sound a little better. Enjoy your Camaro whichever choice you make, don't be in a hurry to make your decision
