Feels good, but I need to see what it does on the track.

Have you even made a pass in your 45th or are you just running your mouth all the time. Go bust your cherry in your 5th gen and let's see how you run without any practice.
Rather than go on and on about this mod how about you run with an without and share the data. You are getting to be too much of a armchair quarterback for me bud.

Of the dyno numbers posted, what would be the average? I'm too burnt out on that long thread, what's the summary of the gain... +5rwhp from 2000 to peak or just somewhere in the 5000 range? if the gains are all below the meat of the power band then gain might only be in the ET and not much in mph?

sometimes things like throttle response mean more than whp... for example a ported throttle body... you guys can say what you want, and I dont care if it "reduces" whp(which it doesn't but hear me out), the "gain" you get in throttle response, especially for an automatic is WORTH the money... because its like this, go WOT at 40 without it, then go WOT with it at 40... and get back to me on how well that $150 was spent...
you can put it on dynos, run logs, do what you want... just check the throttle response, that is what it was designed for and what it does well that is why I LAUGH at these cold air intake test I see on here... don't worry about peak horsepower, that is pretty much useless... why not check the 3500 to 6000 rpm test... THAT is what matters, I don't care if your CAI makes 3 more whp than me, if my car gets from 3500 to 6000rpm faster... I win.. and guess what, the precious Cold Air Inductions cai that that this board raves about, is OUT PERFORMED in that test

why are you mad, I'm joking with you. what am I running my mouth about? I was asking you to see if it feels the same after removing it. the only thing I am contentious about is the wedge. anything else you take issue with about my posts? I understand I have a polarizing attitude, I am willing to accept and deal with the consequences, but I mean no one any harm. and I have posted my data logs which actually match up with another persons data logs done after mine..... I have done what makes sense for me to provide at this time. it's hot here right now. I am not about to go stand around in 100 degree weather to run twice in 4 hours while my wife works 90 hours a week in her residency so I can post drag race results that are subject to more variables than my airflow tests for a freaking 100 dollar part. I'd rather be home with my wife, sorry. I can armchair from home. |

a peaky curve puts out one good number and a broad flat curve puts out five good numbers, even though the highest one is not quite as high as the peaky one. overall, you will be making a higher average power number over time rather than a higher static number at a point in time. |

and they didn't even test the Halltech, Vararam, or K&N units...

I find it hard to believe that the stock intake(2nd place) was better than the CIA intake (3rd place)...lol..I'll keep mine and leave the stock intake in storage.Tests were done in temps ranging from 46 degrees to 73 degrees.
The CIA intake made 17 more horsepower that the stocker and that was without the scoop.

I put my stock air box back on a few days ago and then last evening put the Wedge on to see if the difference was more or less than felt with the Vararam OTR intake. After driving around last night and making the 30 mile trip into work this morning, it is hard to say. The Vararam seemed to benefit more, but honestly it is hard to tell. Normally the trips home in the afternoon give me a better indicator but it's supposed to be extremely hot today. While the vararam deals with excessive ambient temps the stock box doesn't.
Fueling - Wedge versus no wedge with the stock box. The LTFTs were identical everywhere. If there is additional airflow it would have to be measured at WOT with a wideband. As discussed elsewhere it seems as if any gains are from a change in airflow distribution.

I agree that any changes are cylinder distribution related. |
