If the proper weight RP is in the diff, no warranty claim could be denied. It is safe to use non GM fluids in your car. Properly trained, and that being the key, techs can determine if a 'fluid' caused a failure.
Well genius, considering I am a "Properly Trained" GM Tech, I can tell wether or not the fluid caused the damage. And furthermore, know that it "can" and "should" be changed for "free", because there is a PI about it indicating to use a different fluid other than what your owners manual tells you to use. I have done more under this policy than there are threads about this subject started on this forum!

Always have some extra differential fluid friction modifier on hand no matter if it is supposedly already premixed in the new fluid you are using.
Like to see your evidence to back up this claim! Use the Mobil 1 LS then, which is practically the same as the Dexron LS that is suppose to be used in the car, and no additional cost for friction modifier is required.

Calm down skippy, If you s l o w down, and read what I said agian, I stated a good tech "could" determine if the proper fluid was used or not.
And the 'free' fluid change you are referring to is in the '12 rear diffs I believe.

I'm not talking about Mobil 1 which is nothing more than a Group III synthetic like the GM stuff. I am talking about true Group IV or Group V synthetics like Amsoil or Redline. They are far superior than the Mobil, GM, or Royal Turdple offerings and can be found for less money if you know how to do your research. Real world results and research have proven this many times over. GM poorly designed the fluid capacity with it's 1qt squirt of fluid for this type of car. Why would you put an inferior fluid in such a small capacity when there are much much better options available "Mr. Tech"....... ASE, Master Tech, etc... are nothing more than a piece of paper saying you went through classes in 90% of the cases.

Nope covers '10-12' if still under Powertrain warranty.

I will agree on the small fluid capacity of the rear diff, not sure what they were thinking. Being in the deep South, I have seen the fluid break down a lot more easily here due to the heat and small capacity. This is why my paperless azz (i don't have ASE's, cause they "are" just a piece of paper. All my training is GM and 32 years of common sense hands-on knowledge) had a conversation with GM's Tecnical Assistance Center (TAC), about using the Vette lube in the first place. Seems I was on to something, considering the bulletin now exists!

Now, considering my dedication and experience with GM over those 32 years would make me a bit more knowledgable than 90% of the "keyboard techs" that join these forums.

Hey guys why is it that any time someone starts a thread about any oil topic it becomes a cult conversation. LOL.

I had my gears changed and wanted to make sure i out in the best possible gear oil. After trying valvoline, Mobil, Royal Purple, Lucas, Amsoil. Both 75w-90 and 75w-140 my findings are that Amsoil 75w-140 with modifier was the quiet oil. (each oil i and for 200-300 miles before trying another oil)
Love the stuff.... Fyi 18 years aircraft experience (small jets to big Boeing)
