I don't get crateish's comments. If he really believed what he said he would be driving a volt or Prius and be a part of their forums. You know, saving the planet and all that. I just hope he doesn't want to spend my hard earned money on energy technology that won't solve the problem. When china and India decide to drive volts, I'll trade in my Camaro. For now, give me V-8s or give me death!

As far as further comment, I reserve that right since I was suspended for 30 days for giving someone an anatomy lesson here on the forum.

However, I will say this...

If I was the government, I'd offer a $100 billion reward to ANY car company that could give us an affordable V8 without compromises that gets 100 mpg.

We can build a space shuttle but can't build a better V8? WTF???
Here is a 100mpg 400hp V8. its a mustang though... so . But we do have the technology. Very expensive, but its there.

CAFE standards address the average.
Mount Pinatubo erupted in 1991 sending more metals and gases into the atmosphere than all the internal combustion engines on the planet since they've been around combined. Before that it was Mount Krakatoa in the late 1800s. Cars are not the problem here.

Someone will step out of line and this thread will go away also.

there's already been numerous posts deleted.

My wasted 2 cents on this topic.

CAFE is good for conservation of natural resources.

It has no bearing on our ability to save the planet.

Charging batteries takes fuel and unless you have a nuclear power plant that power needed to charge a battery is going to come from a natural fuel source of some kind.

And Don't forget the batteries themselves are damaging to the environment once they are exhausted...

There is no silver bullet.

Ask yourself, what is your goal?

Save money on gas?

Conserve Natural resources?

Be green and earth friendly?

But you can't have all of the above with CAFE or electric cars.

The best answer for all three at once is to find a new fuel... My guess is it will be Hydrogen... and I will embrace it when it arrives.

FWIW.

Until other countries start controlling their MASSIVE corporate pollution, there's really nothing to be gained by me driving a smart car.

Why do you think American companies go overseas? Cheap labor AND no EPA! Take the cheap way out.....and then have commercials about how your company is saving the planet.
