Get a 2 way paging alarm with a pro install. I have descibed the components in another thread on it recently.

Ok well here it is again. There are other brands but I like DEI.

DEI Brain with 2 way - Viper, Clifford, Hornet, Avital (all same sweatshop factory just diff labels).
DEI battery backup siren with key. DEI passlock bypass kit (if automatic for remote start).
DEI back battery for brain. DEI dual zone microwave sensor. DEI shock is in or included with the main units.

Have an authorized installer like Buy Moore.. I mean Best Buy do it.

Good Luck.

As a side note, I enjoy driving past parked cars and setting off their alarms from the exhaust note

Great - thanks for all the responses. If I did get an alarm it might be one with a pager to inform me of an event.

Everyone ignores alarm sirens. Too bad but thats how it is.

What is the alarm system with GPS tracking that someone mentioned?

I bought my wife a new Traverse the first week they were available fully loaded and bought a GM Expanded Remote for it that has a little tiny display on it and tells you everything that the DIC does as well. It has a paging system once you lock the car it will vibrate and beep until you investigate what the cause is and it has a significant range, for instance when we are at the woodlands mall, we tested it while she was inside the mall and it worked so that is another feature to have if it is available for the camaro.

This thing? Looks interesting but I'd rather not carry around two key fobs considering the switchblade style key the Camaro uses.

Some people have had good luck just wiring in a DEI shock sensor to an existing factory alarm trigger point, like the hood sensor. If the shock sensor is triggered, it sets off the factory alarm the same way it would if you opened the hood. I may give that a try, as it seems like a cheap alternative to going with a complete aftermarket system since the sensor is just $30.

Sage advice.

i wonder if onstar would be able to track a car in a different country, europe for instance. or is onstar a service that supports only the US and Canada territories. anyone?

I would think some other type of alarm should be used since there has been someone on this board that has his wheels taken.
