what's the difference between LLT vs LFX Engine?

I'm pretty confused. why is my 2012 1LT refers to as an LFX engine and some others are LLT? i would think there are no differences between the two because they're both V6 engines.

I'm looking to buy some upgraded performance parts but i kept seeing references to LLT. I don't' know if i should buy these parts and it will fit in my car or not. Please help. Thanks

Because in 2012 GM upgraded the LLT and created the LFX engine.

LLT is not the same as LFX, even though they are both v6s.

Just so you know, the Nissan GTR has a v6 too, but that engine is nowhere near the same as ours.

FYI, 2010-11 = LLT. 2012+ = LFX. Some things will not work on LFX if it is made specifically for LLT. Always call the manufacturer of the mods to make sure.

The two engines are very similar, but the LFX is just a newer design based off the LLT.

The LLT was rated at 312HP. The LFX is rated at 323. Both 278lbs of TQ.

The LFX has a different intake manifold and integrated exhaust ports. The LLT uses a Bosch ECM while the LFX uses a Delphi ECM.

The LLT currently has mods like intake manifold spacers, manifold porting, and shorty or long tube headers available for it, that will not work on the LFX engine.

But isn't the point you don't NEED headers with the LFX?

Haven't seen anything definitive regarding the LFX and flow capacity, but typically equal length headers give better performance capability, scavanging, etc.
