if you have HPT make sure you are logging the right thing. you can take timing out all day long and it will still pull if it is torque management related or traction control, etc. you have to make sure the right tables are zero'd and the right features are turned off so you can accurately log it in the first place.

I see a burst of 2-3* KR at ~5400 rpm on the stock tables at times when IAT's rise over 80*f. Not consistant though. TM is disabled and it gets worse as I lean it out past .83 lambda. Running 101 octane E60, might try the TR6 plugs if it persists. Hi flow cats went on yesterday, I'll see if that helps it first.
27* total logged advance @ 6k is a buttload of timing on stock tables though.

I have some TR6 sitting on my desk right now I just gapped. I am going to put them in and do some logging after I edit this photoshoot from this morning. See if I can squeeze a couple more degrees out of it.

Is this a yes for all people with headers, intake, tune for better drivability and performance. Or is it really a matter of how and where you drive. In other words if you put in tr6's and then re-tune will you car be happier.

I swapped to the TR6's yesterday. The difference was immediately noticeable with knock readings staying around 1-2 in the 4500-5500 range rather than 4-5 where it was previously. Idle settled out a bit more as well.

anthony is right that it can contribute to less timing pull but they also MAY not be ideal for idle and easy driving conditions. its a try it and see mod fo sho. |

Got it, I have lots of stop and go, and long lights and almost no highway driving, will just stick with stock plugs. Nice read though.

How prevalent should it be to retune after moving from tr5 to tr6 with headers/exhaust/cai?

I'm going to throw these in and retune. I'll let you know my results, however I'm not paying for another dyno.
