Thanks all for the comments!! I got her back last night, purrs like a kitten now!! I am quite glad they covered it...based on the invoice I saw, it would have cost around $10k in parts and labor and all when it was said and done! I ended up paying only $350 to have a new clutch installed while they had it apart! So yeah pretty good deal in the end. They even detailed it for me (they could have been easier on my paint, whoever did it was not used to washing black cars for sure), inside and out. Not bad considering I didn't even buy it from them!

Wow, sounds like a great dealership, it's hard to find that nowadays. Glad to hear you've got it back

Glad they took care of you. My engine broke a valve spring at 36k miles, while cruising down the hiway. Valve didn't drop and repairs were made under warranty too.

Since they did an engine replacement for you, do you know if GM required a snapshot of your ECM?

With service like that don't keep the dealership nameless. Too many of them go out of the way to cover their own butts and try to get out of costly repairs out of fear of not getting reimbursed.

I don't know how you kept from modding your car for 70k miles, but congrats! I think I made it 1700 before my first mods went on. I'm at 50k miles now and there is no way GM would do this for me.
Sorry you lost your numbers matching motor, but glad you've got a new one under the hood.

Hated seeing that as I just put a cam and valve springs in my friend"s Corvette. Now I will be waiting for him to give me a call.

Yeah, that's the scary part. A stock engine blows at 77K miles?

its crazy right a stock engine blew, i mean who would ever thought a stock engine can blow in the year 2012. dam. i mean GM does have a zero failure rate on engines. right?

but really,
honestly because it was a valve spring failure , i am quite happy in a sense. you really do not hear about many stock engines going, but some must go. a broken spring means there was really nothing fundamentally wrong with the engine. plus switching to a duel spring can be a easy job.

I'm more shocked at the fact that it had 77k miles. Guess you enjoyed every mile of it except for that last 1/2 mile lol.

Wow man, I could have had a very similar event if I hadnt done my cam swap. One of my valve springs was broke too. Luckily it hadnt separated yet.

Yes, they did a check for performance mods as the dealer called it, and then sent it of to GM for validation before they would approve the repair. Since it wouldn't run at that point, I'm pretty sure thats what they were alluding too.
