Lightbulb ZL1's Available 4-sale

I think we need a thread where people can post on where and what options they have seen that are still up for grabs. I have been searching the net for months in hope of finding the ZL1 i have been looking for. I know people are clicking on this topic because they think they are getting a hot tip on a new Camaro. lol

They are all over Ebay. 1. Search Camaro ZL1 2. 15-20 cars pop up 3. Click on the one that catches your eye 4. Call dealer and inquire about it----I found my Dad's on Ebay for him. It was $500 under sticker, then a 300 mile drive to the dealer. He called Friday and picked it up Wednesday.

Search CARS.com, currently 453 ZL1's listed. You can filter year, color, transmission, distance, body style, etc.

When i was searching for mine i found that some of these were sold units, but after a bit of work i located the one i wanted.

Find a few you like and make a few calls.

Good luck on your search!

www.Autotrader.com has a slew of them listed across the U.S.

So you can't just go to a dealer and order one?

NOPE. Each dealer has a set allocation. My dealer has just run through all it's 2013 allocations, with the exception of the one coupe still on the lot.

Convertibles are even more rare than the coupes.

Many dealers were told not to expect a convertible allocation.

No allocation, no car.

(well, you can order it, if the dealer has an allocation and hasn't placed the order yet. You don't NEED an allocation for an SS or a GS Corvette . . .)

Only if that dealership has an unused allocation and they are willing to let you use it.

Update: I found a dealer with one allocation left which they were about to order. I grabbed it and just had them change the color from black to Inferno Orange. I put down $1000 non-refundable. This was at Reliable Chevrolet in Dallas. This is for a ZL1 convertible, should be here in early Nov. They have a dark grey auto convertible in the showroom also. Can't wait! Trading in my 2009 Challenger SRT.

Cool. the convertible allocations are far more rare than the coupe allocations.

P.S. Your convertible will be speed limited to 155 MPH because GM hasn't certified the convertible top to go faster than that.

The coupe will get up to 184 or 185 territory.

I know it seems like its a piece of cake to pick one up but I have one small issue. I'm from Canada and I cant just buy a new one from the states because they can't sell to Canadians so I'm having to come up with some creative ways to get one. Chances of picking one up in Canada is pretty much Nill.

A piece of cake, is it? I live in the Chicago area where there's a large number of Chevy dealers. But most want sticker or more for their ZL1 allocations around here. Edmunds.com says market value (average selling price of a 2013 ZL1 coupe) in a 250 mile radius around Chicago is $1,000 above MSRP. Using cars.com and autotrader searches I found only six total 2013 ZL1 coupes listed in this area, including a red coupe for $10K over sticker at Bill Kay Chevrolet in Lisle. The cheapest are a black coupe at Bill Jacobs Chevrolet in Joliet and a white coupe at Currie Chevrolet in Forest Park at MSRP. A search for the closest 2013 Inferno Orange ZL1 coupe (regardless of options) yielded one at Voss Chevrolt in Dayton, Ohio at MSRP.

But if you want to order it the exact way you want it (and if I'm dropping over $62K including tax/license/title then it had better be exactly how I want it) you need to find a dealer with an available allocation who is willing to sell at MSRP. I've been working on doing just that (and trying to prepare my wife for the upcoming purchase so she doesn't shoot me with one of my own guns when I order yet another car I don't need).

I bought my 2LT from Reliable; very pleasant transaction dealing with them. It was essentially an internet transaction and they honor USAA discounts--if your eligible. The deal was worth a 200 mile drive.
