They had an Orange 13' 2 SS in the parking lot so I was like what the hell I have been thinking let me try it out. The salesman at first didn't want to me to take it out until I corrected him on some wrong info he tried to give me about the car.

I start it up, sounds wonderful, then I take it out on the access road to I-81 south which is about 2 miles long before it merges onto the interstate, speed limit is 70 so I let her go, get up to 80 in no time and cruise down 81 for 5 miles until the first north access exit i find. I didn't feel that same excitement I did when I first drove my v6 for the first time. My wife felt the same way, i return it back to the dealer and told him. He was surprised but appreciated me being honest with him.

The Ford showroom was next door so he told me to take out a Mustang GT and see if I felt any different. Took out a 2012 GT premium convertible on the same drive i took the SS, same feeling, no excitement factor at all. He was surprised again and thanked him for the drives, didn't waste too much of his time, he was doing paperwork while i took both cars out.

I thought it was weird that I felt no excitement other than I loved how each of them sounded. Anybody else ever felt like this or I am weirder than I thought I was

I enjoy driving my guy's SS, but I'm more than happy with my V6. I don't find the added power worth the extra $10k to get an equally optioned car. But that's just me.

Let me put it in a slightly different perspective, and look at it from the other side. Does anyone on this forum know any human being on earth who owns a V8 SS and, after driving a V6, has gone ahead and detuned his V8, to make it more like the V6?

I find this thread to be almost unbelievable. Sure, if you are talknig personal opinon regarding the difference in the looks, okay. You cannot criticize personal opinions on aesthetics....but COME ON. You are SERIOUSLY suggesting that you get more excitement driving a car with much much less horsepower and performance? Then why did you buy a sports car in the first place????

PLEASE tell us this is a really really late April Fool's joke.....or at least a way to justify in your own mind buying a less powerful (and much less expensive) car....

Um, how difficult is this to understand? No two people are exactly the same. He didn't really care for the SS...eh, that's his opinion. Some people enjoy putting 30" rims on their car , some like putting 10 million watts of stereo equipment in their car , some like to go and blow $500-600 on the latest and greatest cell phone every couple months . Do I agree with any of it? No. Is it their deal? Yes. I do know I like my SS.

Let me clarify, I felt the difference in power, loved the extra growl of the engine but I personally didn't feel that wow I need this now factor like I did when I first drove the v6. It isn't me being a hater on the V8 I had that itch to upgrade like the ones who actually made the plunge.

I am not one who messes around when I want a new car, when I bought my V6 last year, I went to the dealer told him what I wanted, drove the one in the showroom and 3 hours later I went home with it. If I had that same feeling Saturday night I probably would showing off my brand new SS right now.

Money isn't the problem I could easily afford the 1 or 2 SS just not a ZL1.

you need to stop referring to your car as a v6. its a 1LT/RS. that tells a whole bunch more about your car than engine size

This is what I was wondering as well. I had a chance to drive a '12 2SS LS3 and I loved the fun factor of the engine and tranny combo. BUT, I did not like the increased firmness of the ride, which was one of the reasons I love my 2LT.

Like others have said, still I'd do it if I can make it work out, but there was the smoothness of the LT's ride that I love.

You want a Camaro ? Get a V6

Same car just less power

You want a Camaro with power get a V8

If you drive a V6 then drive a v8 and feel the same thing you obviously were not going through the gears or on the gas much.

I've driven both.

For the feel of the car both are equal but for the rush hands down to the V8

Plus v8 feels a tad more responsive in suspension to me v6 a tad more cushiony ( not bad just different )

Most want just the look.

Both are good cars

They are Camaros

Could be that there was 89 octane fuel in the tank. Or, the car really wasn't "new" to you, due to your current Camaro ownership.

Think of it as dating twins that have the exact, same looks and personality. One has a nice, fake rack and the other one is modestly natural.

You were happy with the natural one, but the allure of the bigger boobs got the better of you. You jump ship for awhile, and while the bigger boobs are fun and exciting, you're later left wondering why you abandoned the other girl. She was all you needed after all.

I apologize in advance to the nice women of C5. I mean no disrespect.
