A good article about the frequency of changing your oil.

Even before my Camaro, I've always peeled off those "next change" stickers as I'm rolling away from the dealer or the Lube place. If you're paying attention to your car and your driving frequency, you just know when it needs a change or when it's been too long in between.
But I will say that with the Camaro, I always mark the filter and mention "Synthetic ONLY, please" at least twice :P

I've read this before...most people miss the other component, the filter, and while the oil may be able to go the distance, by not changing it regularly, you're circulating contaminated and dirty oil around your engine, just grinding away at it's internals and destroying it. Our camaro engines generate oil temps anywhere from 200 to 220 and that's where it needs to be for thier build tolerances. When filter technology catches up with oil tech, I will think about extending my oil changes.

This is something most people should read. A lot of guys won't accept that their engine can handle longer intervals between oil changes, but the reality is that our cars use less lubrication now than they used to use dues to improved machining. We can build our engines with tighter clearances that require less lubrication between surfaces. Also, advanced oils have been lab-proven to last longer than the same brands of oil years ago. Keep this in mind the next time you're spending unnecessarily on an oil change, especially if you're putting the good stuff under your hood.

Interesting article. Probably going to be debated by some, but that was the point of the article.

The problem as I see it is that I have to maintain my warranty. So until that's either voided or expires, I'm stuck with the coprporate definition of proper oil change interval...
