Bankruptcy and Delivery - my thoughts...yours?

So, I'll preface with a - yes, I'm a bit of a conspiracy theorist.
I find it very odd that after waiting for months for my preorder 2SS...now, suddenly I've been told (less than a week after GM's filing) that it is being shipped...
So- even my dealer doesn't understand why it has been held up for so long. Why cars are DONE and NOT being shipped. Why have you guys seen car after car behind GM fences?

It finally hit me this week after they declared bankruptcy – I bet my friends I would get the call this week…and I did. I think GM planned on bankruptcy all along. I think they didn't release the cars so they didn’t forfeit the money - they probably didn't even have to pay the suppliers for the parts that are in the cars built prior to Monday (the government will.)

Now - before you think ill of me - my family has worked for GM forever, I worked there for 8 years; I only drive GM cars - no matter how frustrating that can be sometimes...so I'm not trying to knock GM. I'm just mad to think that my car and my order have been used as some sort of pawn in some sort of game. I was at 3400 (Broadcast which usually means it was already built) over a month ago - why four days after Ch. 11 is it now being shipped? Are any of you getting calls now? Hitting 4200 (Shipped)?
I would very much appreciate your feedback.

Early in production they found some issues with the cars. They had to go back and fix them. In addition, many cars were "held" for additional quality checks. 3400-shipped in a month albeit long is not that out of the ordinary. Broadcast does NOT mean built. 3800 is built. I really don't think your car shipping had anything to do with Ch 11.

Now, my salesman is my cousin - who has sold Chevies for years...he sent me the list of vehicle order 'event codes' and told me (when it hit broadcast) that this usually means it was already built - like w/every other car model...besides, the number they are building a day doesn't add up with the number we see out there and have received.

This whole thing has been fishy - enough so that I'm ready to walk. GM would not accept early orders (i.e. that would go through) for V6 cars - you had to order SS's (in order for the factory to accept it) yet I've seen V6 after V6 on the road...
and dealer after dealer with cars on ebay...
They are lucky they still have customer like you willing to give them the benefit of the doubt!)

OH!
To add to your list mercuryman96 -
there was the short-shifter that I was told I could either have my car - or not - short shifters were on their way to becoming a dealer installed option (my guess is...this will not be $300...)

Finally, I'll add that I worked on some pilot and start-up builds while at GM - it was all we engineers could do to check the vehicle for known problems a few hours before it was yanked because, and I quote, "customers were waiting for it." When those things left the line - the tires literally squealed on their way out the door, and they were on a truck, through the gates, and on their way to greener pastures in an hour.

So, either the QC was about something REALLY bad - or there is something fishy - I'm opting for fishy...

I'm not giving them the benefit of the doubt, I'm just giving the facts. Built = 3800. Why would they have two codes that mean the same exact thing? 3400 is "broadcast" which is when they gather up all the parts so the car can be built. It is basically the beginning of the actual build.

Things have changed. Your anecdote is exactly the kind of stuff that caused GM quality issues in the past. They're finally taking it more seriously. If something isn't right, it's getting fixed before it leaves the plant (or as soon as they know something isn't right).

broadcast means exactly what it sounds like, they broadcast your order through out the plant so as it goes through the line they have the parts and know whats supposed to go in there.

Per the Detroit Freepress (http://www.freep.com/article/2009051...S01/905140492/), GM "has moved up payments to many suppliers in North America that were scheduled for June 2 to May 28". This way the suppliers would be paid and allow for continued production, unlike Chrysler who filed for before paying the suppliers, thus causing their production to be shut down almost immediately.
