Rail car "loaded with bad order"

Hi All,

I'm sitting here, a little impatiently, waiting for my car to make the train trip cross country to Cali. I've been following it's progress through the automated phone system. When I called this morning it hadn't moved since yesterday, and it said "loaded with bad order".

Did some googling and found out that this means that the rail car has a mechanical problem. Since it hasn't moved since yesterday, I'm assuming that they had to take the rail car off the train and it's now baking in the New Mexico sun somewhere.

Anyone have this happen to them? How long before they either transferred your car to another rail car or fixed the one it was in?

We had something very similar, she sat on the rail car in Illinois for 4 days over the July fourth weekend and then sat in Kansas City for three days waiting for a hauler. The Dealer called once and asked what the problem was and they said oops, your car accidently got shipped to California, it was later "found."
Oh the good old days ...of three years ago!

We do understand your frustration with the slow pace of the delivery process; however, we are confident that the correct persons are taking the correct steps to deliver every customer vehicle safely and professionally. Shortcuts on this final step in the delivery process are just not advisable. This may lead to some short delays; however, the most important goal is to get your vehicle to your dealership in perfect condition as soon as possible.

I work for Union Pacific, they won't transfer it to another rail car. More that likely it had bearing issues enroute and had to be set out along the main and will be serviced and put on a different train . Give it 2 or 3 days and it should be moving again, they don't like leaving high dollar cargo sitting to long. Best of luck and permafrown will soon be a permagrin!!!

How do you check your car status over the automated system? What is the phone number?

CSX is everything east of the mississippi
Up is everything west of the mississippi

But they all start out on CSX so once they have it in there system they will follow it all the way.

How do I track my car on a railcar?

First and most important. Never talk to live personnel at the railroad! Only use automated phone system. If it attempts to transfer you to a live person please hang up. The railcar information we are provided by GM is given as a courtesy and if we call live personnel we will lose our data and ability to track

CSX
1. Call the CSX 1-800-235-2352 1-800-235-2352
2. When prompted for location or weight, press "1" on your phone for location.
3. When prompted for the car initials, say ETTX (whatever initials you have) then wait for the next prompt. OR key in 32-81-81-92 (for ETTX)(letter and position on your phone)
4. When prompted for the car number, say 907048 or key in whatever your car number is
5. When prompted for next car say DONE.
6. That's it; enjoy your updated status report.

Union Pacific
1. Call UP at 1 800 877-5123 1 800 877-5123
2. Follow phone prompts for Trace
3. Say the railcar number complete and clearly. Example ETTX123456 all together
4. Listen for your update

These automated systems can be frustrating. Keep in mind they are intended for use by folks that use them daily all day long. Like I said if you are being transferred to a live person please hang up and try again.
