Exhaust and Cold air intake????

Hello Group,
I am new. I recently purchased a 2010 Camaro SS, 6.2, Transformer Edition.
I know very little about Camaro's, the engine, upgrades, etc..
I was shopping around and found a great sound and package for my 2010 with an axle back MRT Performance 5th Generation exhaust. Does anyone know anything about this setup?

What is the opinion of this group for a good axle back exhaust. What do you all recommend? I want a good muscle car sound, but I don't want to go broke getting one.

I also need your help in recommending a good "cold air intake" and a tuner.

I use to have a 2007 Mustang GT, that I supercharged and tuned. As well as changing the rear gears to 4:10's, and installed a MAC axle back exhaust. It ran 12.2 in the quarter consistantly.

But I don't want to put that kind of money into my camaro as of yet. Can you all help me also with ideas, tips, etc., in setting up my camaro to have a great sound and a little more pep, without going broke right away.

I am happy that I found this great site. There is no better way to build a car than getting info from those who have experience in the area. I am looking forward to talking with you all.

Thank you for your help,
Casper

Welcome Casper! I'll be the first to throw out my opinion on a CAI.. I read almost every on intakes and finally went with CAI's intake (CAI is the brand)

I have never once seen a complaint about it's performance, fitment, or engine issues. I researched for about 2 weeks until i had to pull the trigger.

Good luck!

From my experience I have an L99 ( automatic) and I have a flowmaster catback because I wanted a full 3" exhaust, 1 7/8's kooks headers and the best part I think it's the vararam (tune) version because I know it works at the track and the real world and not just on dyno's. just my .2

Casper, it really just depends on what you are looking for and how much you want to spend. The CAI Inc intake system mentioned above is THE intake system for these cars. There are other good systems but they are by far the most popular. As far as exhaust goes, pick your flavor. What kind of sound do you like?

Our intake does not require a tune, will not throw any CEL's, features a ceramic coated intake tube and insulated & enclosed airbox to reduce heat soak, and is by far one of the most if not the most popular "go to" intake for this vehicle. You can find a lot of great information on our website, www.ColdAirInductions.com

Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions, I would be happy to help!

Personally I would start with our LSR CAI and our LSR axleback exhaust:

We offer a kit that can be used both with or without a tune:

  • ~15HP & 12 ft/lbs TQ Max Gains at the Wheels with no tuning, ~35HP & 38 ft/lbs TQ Peak Gains at the Wheels with tuning
  • High-flow Lifetime Air Filter
  • Velocity-Stack Inlet smooths incoming air
  • Made in the USA
  • Lifetime Warranty

Check out our LSR axle-back exhaust, it's made in the USA and features a lifetime warranty:

Let me know if I can help you with anything. I'd be glad to put together a package deal for you.

before getting an exhaust I recomend going to a car show or Camaro gathering and listening in person to the sound, doesnt absolutly need to be a camaro to get a feel for the sound of different types...there are numerous people selling the exhaust they got because its either to loud or not loud enough....everyone is different.....

my personal taste was the Stainless Works because I thought it had a great sound without blowing peoples eardrums out...there are others, Im just using that as an example of my personal taste after listening to several others with the exhaust....

But in person is much better than the sound bites....believe me, waiting a bit and making sure by listening in person will make it worth it.

And dont be afraid to walk up to someone that drives by and ask them what they have...I havent met a person yet who mods that isnt estatic to talk about their mods....often getting them to stop is the problem

Just get what you like and can afford, and remember three out of the seven responses above are salesmen I went with the Vararam non tune intake and cat back Flowmaster american thunder exhaust. Almost all the top intakes will give you what you need to open it up a bit so just go with what you like and is affordable for you. For the exhaust do what others have said and look around and listen and see what you like. Good luck

SPOT ON! Go out and listen if you can. There are plenty of cars out these days and all will be proud to give you a rev or two. Good hunting.
