Yes I believe GM new they would be filing bankruptcy for some time, however not sure about the fishy theroy. Built cars and inventory would have to be listed as an asset which is almost the same as money.

slvrphx - also a good point, although it's a bit curious why so many suppliers here in Michigan have also folded this past week, and moved up doesn't necessarily equal full payment...I'm still shocked that Visteon suddenly declared bankruptcy...but, maybe you're right. Thanks for your thoughts.

Visteon probably needed the lawsuit protection that chapter 11 provides. Does not really mean they will close shop.

No sir, GM has to pay the people who give them the parts and etc. and if they don't even when they file bankruptcy those creditors which in ur case would be the parts co. would then own a piece of the company according to how much they are owed or lent to the company.

Things have changed. Your anecdote is exactly the kind of stuff that caused GM quality issues in the past. They're finally taking it more seriously. If something isn't right, it's getting fixed before it leaves the plant (or as soon as they know something isn't right).
