best way to drain the fuel tank?

I was wondering whats the best way to empty the fuel tank (without driving).
I tried to put a siphon hose down the filler tube but it won't go into the tank.
Not sure about the quality of the gas in there and want to get it out.
Any ideas?

C'mon guy, don't be so uptight. Unless you are stalling and blowing smoke out of the tailpipe with severe knocking, drive it out. You can fill it with a known Tier I gasoline and be done with it. With the cost of gas and all, no sense to waste it. Now would also be a good time to add some fuel additive, like techron cleaner or GM fuel additive, still beats sucking on a hose for gasoline, but it could be worse I guess....

What makes you think the quality is so bad you want to siphon it out?

It will be impossible to siphon fuel out thru the filler neck for the novice. And like others have said, drive it out.
UNLESS you suspect someone has put something in your tank, sugar... sand... ????

For the last 10-15 years cars have had anti-siphon fill necks so people can't steal the gas.

Really you only have two options 1) drive it or 2) take it somewhere with a lift and pay someone 2-3 hours labor to drop the tank.

You can connect to the fitting on the passenger side of the fuel rail, run the drain into a fuel container and drain it that way... Easier to let it run and pump it out at the same time versus jumpering the pump to run... Takes about 20 minutes for a half tank...... All you need is a fuel pressure set-up and some hose.... Be aware of the inherent dangers working with fuel...

Thanks for the replies. I was just curious if it was an easy task. Since it sounds complicated I will just run it out, refill, and do the fuse pull just in case the gas was bad.
