Scary Encounters in your Camaro?
Ok, so generally my car gets a lot of positive attention. Just today I had some teenagers that got out of an old third gen, looking at my car at a gas station , talking about how they liked the stripes and one of the girls started to touch them and her boyfriend grabbed her arm and said "NO. Dude. You don't touch a car like that."
Well. Shortly afterward i got freaked out. So I'm driving and a lady (I use the term loosely; she looked like a crackhead, literally) pulled out in front of me in a beat up old Explorer. I had to hit the brakes to avoid hitting her. She proceeded to drive ten mph under the speed limit so when I had an opportunity I passed her and went on my way. I didn't tailgate her at any time. Well about five miles down the road I see she is tailgating me like crazy. I pull into a station to put air in the tires and she follows me in. I circled the station twice, driving around back, trying to find the air machine and a parking spot. She follows right on my tail. She is glaring at me and making obscene gestures (I see this through the rearview). So I am a little nervous and I leave the station without stopping. She follows me onto the interstate. She is still flipping me off and riding my tail, swerving to try to get alongside me. People were honking at her. I started to speed to get away from her, and she proceeded to get up over ninety mph, catch up to me and then tried to run me off the road! at this point I got my .380 out of my bag, loaded a clip, and set it in the passenger seat.I'm terrified at this point so I called the cops on her, then sped up and wove through traffic (this little V6 will go!) and finally took an exit at the last second and lost her. Until I started evasive maneuvers she was right on my tail like she was going to rear end me. It was really scary. Has anyone ever had an experience like this? How did you handle it? I still don't know what on earth could have set her off.

I"m one of those idiots that get shot in a case like that. I stop and ask WTF the problem is.
![]() Last time I did it Bonnie was with me. How stupid is that? Hard to say what to do, there are a lot of factors but you did right by preparing and calling the cops. |

The only thing that scares me would be paranoid Camaro drivers...If you put that lady you mentioned behind the wheel of a Camaro, sounds like something other Camaro owners on here would do...lol

I thought about getting out and asking if she had a problem but I didn't want to have to shoot anyone. There's a lot of paperwork involved in something like that!

(He was at my sons window at 3am on a Wed morning one night) I don't pick up my gun unless I'm willing to use it if I have to and I won't shoot to injure. I actually don't carry my gun in the car around town any more. Only on long trips. Like to the fest. This way I don't have to worry about it. BUT you are smart to keep it with you. Espec as an attractive lady. |

You did the right thing by calling the police and trying to find a populated area (gas station). When she got in front of you and slowed down you did the right thing by giving her a lot of space. However, you should have just gotten oft the highway at the first exit she passed. That way she would have continued driving and would not have been able to follow you. You could have then waited (10-15) minutes before getting back on the road. Hopefully she would have been long gone. Stay safe. Some people are really disturbed and very dangerous.

Sorry to hear that this happened to you and glad you are okay.
I've been both a gun holder and had a gun held to me before. Both positions suck, obviously one more than the other. At least it's over and done with and nobody got hurt. Also, in before the internet Chuck Norris wannabe's start posting about how they would have kicked her ass or killed her.

In the heat of the moment it's not always easy to figure things out...Unfortunately, she "had" you...There are jack-jobs on the road all the time....Wear sunglasses, don't make eye-contact, don't buy into their bs....If you drive recklessly trying to get away, and get in an accident, the person you're trying to evade is long gone, and you're screwed... Know where the police stations and fire-stations are...safely drive to one of those, and start honking the horn.... |

Similar story happened to me last week:
The wife and were headed to my parents house for my granddads 90th B-day gathering. They live out in the sticks, one lane road not much room to pass even an oncoming car. I was driving about 40mph or just enjoying the ride when I notice a truck so close I couldn't tell what it was. I didn't pay much attention to him, just dove on my current speed. When I get to the driveway I slowed way down "blinker on" because it a very rough rock drive, and has a pretty good drop to it. As I was turning left into the driveway this ass clown passed me in the ditch and had it nailed, when he came up on the road he threw grass, mud and dirt all over the side of the car.. ![]() Needless to say I am pissed at this point and roll out if the car yelling at him. He stops.. backs up and wants to get mouthy. Now its been a long time since I was in a tussle, but I was ready to rock and told him that several times trying to get him to get out of the truck. "punk kid about 25 I would guess". He finally flips me off and drives on. I'm still looking for that truck evertime I go though town...... |
