EDIT: I went back and looked at the video - first post. The 11.96 timeslip for the Manual car has 1.69x. The A6 has 1.72 or 3 or something...can't see that one clear.
So ya, I think you can claim that GM was claiming that. |

I was simply asking the question, as I have only seen the 1.6x second 60 foot time on stock tires claim stated here by some on Camaro5, but I have not seen that claim stated anywhere by Chevy/GM.

Is it indicated that that particular time slip shown was for a run on stock tires?

No, it didn't explicitly say it, though the ETs & MPHs just happen to be exactly what GM is claiming the car did on the stock tires.

GMs creative math.
I wonder if these numbers are like the BS commerical where they paid their government loan off a full five years ahead of schedule. GM has always been creative with math. Just like their BS ring times. No way a ZL1 beat a ZO6 at the ring. GM engineers always seem to be able to do something no one else in the world can duplicate.

Bump 74z28. I anxiously watched the (stock) ZL 1 s run at Camaro Fest III. Not at any time did I see one of these beasts run any better than low 12 s on the drag strip. Maybe I missed something....just saying.

Also, the sub-12 time that GM recorded just might have been a single instance of breaking into the 11's. May, just maybe they had been running low 12's and got lucky on just that one run. |

It'd be nice to see some non-gm personnel get in to the high 11's stock too.

I don't have a beef with the ET or the MPH either, and I think we will see some drivers approach (and maybe, surpass) those times with the addition of drag radials and cooler weather.....but it's going to take some seat time and practice to get there.

My gut about the A6 is that 1.72 bone stock on bone stock tires is hard to believe. I can believe it on a drag radial. If I took my car added a blower, and run on stock tires I'd have to finesse the crap out of it to go better then the 1.95's I cut with the stock tires. I've gone 1.88 on DR's and now need more converter (or a blower). I think I'd go 1.72 with either pretty easily. Just me thinking out loud. I think 11.85 for a MN6 in great air, and 11.95 for an A6. Stock converters are way tight like under 1700 stall.

For comparison's sake with my stock Z06, my PB on a street tire (Nitto Invo's) was a 1.79 on a well prepped track.
As compared with my Hoosier drag radials, I've cut a best of 1.58 on a well prepped track.......over 2 tenths better.

Cool, and you make 500rwhp but are 3400 raceweight... A difference of let's say 700 lbs.
*edit* And a good friend of mine went 11.5@124 in his C6Z, very good driver. Add in 700 lbs.... 12.2@114 Sounds about right. But I bet the auto cars are a lot slower with the stock tight converter and conservative tuning.
