LOL, getting there.

Care to elaborate on the propeller shaft?

We are just JK regarding the drive shaft.

By the way......getting my car tuned tomorrow morning! Pretty excited with the carbon intake!

Good luck today, I'm exited for you!

Dekan, that's the good thing about living where I do, it only rains maybe 5 times a year!

Got the long block finish yesterday but forgot to take pics. Here is a pic of the short block assembled.

Got some disappointing news during the dyno, the inner tread on one of my R888 tires came apart, had to stop tuning, so I'll be coming up to Sac in 2 weeks to get some real high boost tuning.

I also found out the effects of running a ported throttle body. When a TB is ported, they take off a little casting off the bottom of the TB for 'better flow'. This is not a good idea, because the butterfly valve has air that can leak and messes with the TPS sensor when tuning. It causes my car to surge at idle, and was a bitch to correct. It was causing the TPS to surge from 18-30 without even touching the pedal! I'll try and get some pictures of later today.

I love my ported TB, it is a noticeable difference. Mine is an RX that I bought from Southwest Speed.

Hey guys, I know, I suck, LOL. I've been so crazy busy with school, work and trying to move this project along I haven't had anytime for posting.

I wanted to do a DIY on putting the short block together but thats not going to happen.

I was also going to do a DIY on upgrading your rockers with the Comp Trunnion but I didn't have my brother to take pictures. I did take one picture and gave up the ghost because it was going to take to much time and I just want to finish this thing. Would have been nice since I haven't seen DIY on upgrading yjrtrinnions and it's a nice upgrade.

Here the ONE pic I took. It's just the first step of removing the factory trunnion. Basically, I sat the rocker on a one inch socket. This allowed me to press out the trunnion out the bottom and into the socket. I used a 1/2" socket as a drive to push it through on the top. There's a few more step but again, I suck, LOL sorry guys!

Now let me introduce you the the most expensive bolt in the UNIVERSE! Because we are stroking the engine, we checked for clearance between the crank case and the rod bolts. We only had about .030 of clearance and we need about .040 clearance. So we remove the bolts and chambered the edge of the head to get the clearance needed. We ended with .050 which was more than enough. Fortunately, in the process of removing the bolts, Keith notice that one of the bolts had a little surface rust. So he tried buffing it out but found it was actually pitted. Perhaps someone didn't put enough lube to keep it from rusting while sitting on the shelf. Who know how long it's been on the shelf before getting thrown on a rod. Maybe some guy went to the bathroom and took a piss and never clean their hands and touch the bolt afterwards, whatever the reason ........ These bolts carry the highest stress point on an engine and it wasn't going to makes it's way back onto my engine. So, long story short, I called Lunati for a replacement. This was last Friday. Since it was the only thing holding us from completing the engine and I wanted to get it done, I asked what would it cost for next day Saturday delivery. I was told $95.00!!! Ouch!, I said, what the heck.... do it. Then I realized we would still need to measure for push rods for length and order on Monday. Wednesday would be the quickest we get them. So spending $95 would be moot. I called Lunati and canceled the overnight shipping. They said all was good. They hadn't shipped yet. Well,......... it turned out that they did mail it overnight Monday delivery. So, low and behold yesterday, I receive a package with a shipping cost was actually $104!!! SOOOOOOO it's my pleasure to gladly introduce you the world most expensive bolt!!!
If you look closely, you can see the pitting.

These two bolts are for the alternator and ARP doesn't have replace 140MM. So I grind and polished the heads. You can see the before and after on the pic.

Took the Medling oil pump apart to make sure every look good. Keith is the builder that helping me with the assembly, said he once opened a pump and found a lose bolt just sitting in it!

By the way, Keith owns a machine shop and specialize and NA LS racing engines. He's taken me under his wing and guided me through the whole build process and for that, I'm very appreciative! I can't tell you guys how much I've learned. He also build engines for Cunningham Motor Sports AKA CMS. I personally would have never caught the rusted bolts or known the significance. So it's great having him on my corner. Actually, it's kind of neat living were I do because there's so many race and hot rod shops all over.

I had Geronimo polish the stock water pump. I'm going to keep it as a back up in case my Meziere doesn't perform as necessary for auto-crossing or track events. I going to sand blast and paint at the same time I paint the bay.

Thumbs up

Wow Nathan great thread! You are the son I never had! LOL I am addicted and subscribed. I look forward to seeing your ride in the semi-finished state because with guys like you (and I) a car is never finished... it is just in its next stage of life.

Orange Krate is no replacement or comparison to your detailed ride but if your car is down for mods and you need a SS ride "fix" I will be happy to motor down and let you cruise in an Orange sled. Just don't touch the engine compartment!!! Keep up the fantabulous job and detailed journal.

Jim
