19, manual. learned when I was 14 on a 91 911 and loved it. my bimmer was an SMG with paddle shifters and I started missing shifting through the gears. and I personally think a lot of people are getting WAY too defensive around here. Get whatever you want, and if someone has their input on it, get over it. You're on a forum, you should expect people to be for you and people to be against you. Let's move on, shall we?

Sorry if I was a little over the top with my post but it's just annoying that people say that it must be manual because it's a muscle car.

Ya know what owning a V6 Automatic LT Camaro makes you? A Camaro Owner!
Ya know what owning a V8 Manual SS Camaro makes you? A Camaro Owner!

Ya know what being a Camaro Owner makes you? A hellava lot happier (and faster) than a pony owner!

Just waiting (and waiting, and waiting) to be happy!

Seems like most people that are getting manuals are of the "OMG, Camaro = Manual or bust" type, and the people who ordered autos feel obligated to defend their decision... as if driving a manual is the "manly" thing to do or something... what's the deal, here? I even get guff from a couple of my friends about it. It's kind of annoying, actually. The auto will still lay the smack down on any car in its class. Personally, I don't find shifting gears to be "fun"... I actually find it a bit tedious. Maybe I'm lazy, I dunno. But I also don't like the "jerky" back-and-forth feeling you get from a manual (seems less noticeable when you're the one driving though). Add in the fact that this will be my daily driver, 25-mile commute (one-way) to work every day, and lots of rush-hour traffic jams (as well as city driving for lunch)... and shifting will just get old real quick. I have faith that my car will put me in the most efficient gear when necessary. After all... its 1/4-mile is within .1 sec of the manual, isn't it? Sounds pretty damn good to me.

Why should this have to be explained every time someone finds out you ordered the auto? No one gets this bent out of shape when you order a sandwich with no mayo...

"WHAT?! No mayo??? EVERY sandwich HAS to have mayo, otherwise it's not a REAL sandwich!!!"

Always drove a "stick" in the past and LOVED IT, traffic or not...and got the highest compliments from my teenage son, who thinks i am the best and smoothest stick driver ever, and that includes all his teen friends!!...

:( HOWEVER, my knees are not what they were 10 yrs ago and i broke my left ankle a few yrs back and was glad i had an "Auto" available to drive at that point or i would have waited even longer than the 12 wks i already had to wait to drive at all, because i would not have been able to use the clutch with the left ankle, which was shattered...

I do not judge anyone's decision and don't think anyone else should either...

We are the Camaro5 "family" and we should all respect each other's choices and get along like "good little kiddies"...

No it was not you, sorry. I got annoyed at someone saying they should ban Auto Muscle cars. Felt that was over the top. I have that person on ignore now.

32 - 2SS Automatic

Really wanted to order the manual but talked myself out of it. My commute is all stop and go traffic and this will be my first car after only owning trucks before. I thought I'd enjoy the manual but feared the chance of not liking it. Decided to play it safe and get the auto.

Must have ordered an AUTO.

what?!?!?! no mayo? now you're just talking crazy talk...sandwich without mayo, that's blasphemy!!

but as far as the transmission, you get what is most fun for you to drive. for me, it's stick. for someone else, it's automatic. WHO F---N CARES?!

stop bitchen about other people's preferences. can't we just go back to playfully making fun of each other? don't take it so seriously
