LT Headers... w/ or w/o HFCs?
So I'm in the market for some long tubes. I'm currently looking into the OBX long tubes or BBKs with high flow cats. Honestly, I'm more looking to improve my HP/TQ with decent gains in loudness. As far as inspection goes, I'm good for a few years and can revert to stock if need be - so we can ignore the legal side of long tube headers for now.
Anyways, since inspection isn't a problem, what's the REAL difference between no cats and high flow cats when applied with long tube headers? Sound? Smell? Power? Help me out here, guys! Edit: I have a tune so the CEL is not a problem. |

From a performance perspective there is almost zero benefit to straight pipe over modern high flow cats. You might see 1-2 rwhp here and there but nothing to really speak of. Straight pipe will be a slightly louder. High flow cats will not have the rotten egg smell you get with straight pipe.

No, we are pretty particular about what we carry but we do have Stainless Works and ARH LTs for the V6.
