What is the purpose of a strut tower brace?

I am not really sure if this is the right category or not, but what exactly is the purpose strut tower brace? Do they fit on v6 2010's?

The strut tower brace stiffens the chassis so the suspension can do its job better. There are aftermarket strut braces available I think.

Well it could....you need that adaptor or whatever. The thread on it has recently been deleted so idk what is going on with that, knew there were some issues with patents and functionality and such, idk

When GM cut the roof off the 5th Gen to make it a Vert, the car needed extra structure. The strut tower bar was on of several braces creates and added to the vert. That is the origin of the bar for a 5th Gen.

On the ZL1 they use the same strut tower bar. The GYs have unusually firm side walls. Tire side walls are part of the suspension. As the OE engineers tuned the MRC for the ZL1 they found the strut tower bar allowed them to tune with more consistency.

We think the strut tower bar creates more understeer. Our OPTIMA Ultimate Street Car Invitational cars do NOT use a strut tower bar. We like the slight flex in the towers and find we have less understeer without one. It makes our cars faster. Before you ask, there has never been a faster 5th Gen on track with a Pedders prepared Camaro. Ask around and see if anyone has documented a faster lap time by adding a strut tower bar with full data to back it up. You'll be waiting a long time.

What would it do on your 2010 6. Look cool. If you like the look add one to your car.

For clarification the ZL1 uses a different strut bar than the NA convertibles. It is larger and it has to be higher to clear the SC
Here are pics of the V6 Convertible and the ZL1 strut tower braces

We have a really nice V6 BMR strut tower brace available that is real popular with all our V6 customers. The strut tower brace helps keep the strut towers in place and keeps any flex in the chassis to a minimum. They make a big difference under cornering and any kind or handling maneuvers. Here are a couple pictures.

The V-8 convertible (non-ZL1) uses the same brace as a V6. I just think the factory one looks cool. I don't corner hard enough for the tower to flex, anyways.

Our LSR strut tower brace is designed to increase front suspension effectiveness by increasing the chassis' stiffness. This reduces the unwanted compliance in the strut towers leading to vague steering and uninspiring suspension performance. It does however only fit 2011+ Camaros.

Let me know if I can help you with anything else.
