ZL1, all the way. It was specifically built to handle the supercharger, bigger brakes, suspension, "magneticsomething", rear-end different, etc. Plus you get the warranty.
Lastly, the mod list states the L99 engine was swapped out for the LS3, but the interior still shows it being an automatic, so what is the benefit of said swap? Thanks |

I don't really care one way or the other but take a look at the headlights and taillights; they don't appear to be the halo's or tints so that wouldn't seem to indicate it has the RS package.

To the OP: I would value this car at the same price as I would value any other 2010 SS camaro. In reality, the mods add nothing to the value. |

I had a 94 Mustang with over 50K of mods done to the car. It had a hand built full race 20K motor without the supercharger. (A4 block, Ported TFS heads, Custom intake, Billet rods, custom pistons, TI valves, Shaft mount rockers, on and on.) I sold the car in '97 for 20K plus a '92 Supercharged GT which I sold for a stock '93 Cobra (which I added $$ to buy). I figured the total trade and I got less than 30K on a car I had 70K invested in. Switch to last week. Traded my 2010 2SS/RS with MBRP 3' exhuast and Rotofab intake. Car had 18K miles on it. I got slightly better than blue book but it was a battle to get it. The reason I sold my car was to buy a ZL1. I had been thinking of modding my car as it was past the 3/36 warranty. But I would have a car that cost me what my ZL1 did with no warranty and the value of a 2010 SS. Moral of the story is for resale.... Buy the car that meets your performance wants "AS IS". Modding is fun and great but never consider modded cars to have much more value than stock. If you are going to buy a modded car. Get the history of the mods. Who did the work is as important as the spec's. But only buy if it is a screaming deal.

Moral of the thread: Mod for you, not the next owner. Some might not like your taste in art.

I'd say it all depends on whether the car was built and driven hard as one might assume from all the mods (otherwise why all the mods), OR perhaps it was someone who just wanted to mod the heck out of the car just for bragging rights and for shows.
IF (and it's a big IF) was/is more of a garage queen than anything, and you could get it for $40 or less, then it might be worth it. We all agree that even tho he may have put $75k into it, he isn't going to get anywhere close to that price. If the price stays in the $50k and higher range, then by all means, go for the ZL1 instead. |
