Hey Ed, bring me back up to speed please. Besides the RED SS badge, which also signifies that is should have the RS package, which your car in the video doesn't and the handwritten SS on the keys. Where else did "HERTZ" offer this or show THIS car as an SS?

Embedded the video for ya.

Hertz probably bought the car and had no idea it has the wrong badges on it. Most Chevy dealerships can't tell the difference from one Camaro or another, Hertz isn't going to be any different.

That is sad they rented it as an SS. I agree with the advice of contacting the main office.

Hertz makes a big deal of renting the SS as part of its "Adrenaline Collection" See the link below:

1:00 to about 1:30. Lower left of rental agreement. Clearly reads "CAMARO CV SS."

WOW.

For someone genuinely wanting to check out an SS for the day to see if they want to buy one....then they get this and think? WTF?

This, due to Hertz, DOES hurt the GM reputation. GM should give'em a call. JUST WOW.

This. The reverse happened with a good friend of mine. She bought an SS but the badge was "RS". It happens.

HI All,

Just an update/recap while I'm waiting around to go out for the morning. Yes, Hertz did say this was an SS with a V8 when I was renting. I actually said to the counter agent, this is a V8 model correct? And they confirmed.

The car itself only has the SS badges on the back. And the key tag seems to have SS added onto the car description, the picture is a page back.

I'm not suing the company, they have knocked down the rate for me which I am happy with. I just really want to know how this happened. I will be contacting Hertz corporate again with the video I shot. I have also posted on their facebook page, guess I can see where that goes. If anyone wants to comment on their page my post should be listed on their wall under "posts by others".

In the end I am just really confused, especially after speaking with the Hertz office I rented from. I had stopped by yesterday to show them he car and I was told two items that made me a bit miffed. I was told:

"we just rent them as cars we are told they are" and "as a rental company we are not allowed to carry V8 cars"

That second statement had made me a bit mad since they obviously are able to hold/rent V8 cars since they advertise them in their Adrenaline series.

So I guess we will see where this goes. As I have mentioned before I feel bad for anyone else who has rented this car and paid the full V8 upcharge. Either way the Hertz local office has either intentionally rebadged this car or they have no idea on how to keep track of their fleet. Lets say someone did rent a regular LT, badged it an SS, wrote SS onto the key tag, and returned it. How the hell did Hertz put it into their system as an SS upon return. What did they say....oh hey we have another SS on the lot?? Great!

The more I think of it, I have to say I'm thinking Hertz might be a bit less innocent than I had originally thought.

what is with ALL the people on this site and SUEING? Geez! Give it a rest call them and get them to drop the rental down to reflect the cars normal range. Call the Manager on duty and tell him about the badging issue.

OP, having done your homework and looking to purchase an 'SS', it behooves me to understand how you can drive off the lot in a V6.

Mostly it was I saw the SS badge and didn't think anything of the missing slot/lack of rumble until I actually started to drive the car on the highway. At that point I had noticed it had no omph, the being up for 24 hours having traveled from Fiji had to do with it as well. Like I mentioned in previous posts I pretty much popped the hood right away at my aunts house and confirmed my suspicion that it wasn't a SS.

Until i popped the hood its one of those situations you just keep telling yourself it is what the badge tells me it is.
