You have to be really good at stick to not get that jerking feeling but you still get a little bit of it.
47, female, 2SSRS, V8, Manual. I can't believe they don't teach kids to drive manual transmissions any more. It was mandatory when I was in driver's ed. We all knew how or didn't pass the class. All parents required driver's ed so they could afford to insure us!

3 cars, all manuals and yes, I know how to shift without jerking you around (and also how to shift without a clutch at all). It's not that hard.

You don't have to force yourself to learn anything but like everything else in life, not knowing how to do something limits your options. Plus, hard to have an opinion if don't have experience with it IMO.

I prefer manuals not because it's the only true characteristic of a sports car but because they have much better control -- especially in bad weather or quick stopping. Again, more options.

Now, I would have preferred an LS3 with an auto so I could drag race but personally, I was going to have the fastest camaro they made and that meant a manual trani.

No right or wrong here. Just respect everyone's opinion. If this was my daily driver and I lived in a city with large amounts of traffic, the auto may have been my choice.

47 Year old - ordering stickshift

Drove stick for 17 years in UK and have been driving auto for last 9 in US.
I will have the joy of learning to shift with my right hand as opposed to my left ;-)

No wrong answer here - Auto on new camaro is awesome too.

Only issue is that my good lady cant drive stick and she is less than happy with me .....

I am in the NYC area not in a rural area. Also have a lot of hills in the NYC suburb I drive around. I've had plenty of experience trying to drive manual, I find it more work and never tried to get better at it . I just want to hit the gas and go with no delay. Again it's all personal preference. I am not going to race this car, but even with Auto this car will go. Why did I choose a SS over a LT? Because I wanted the power and speed. Do I need the extra HP that the manual offers, no. So if I don't need something and don't want something then I don't get it. Plus, my car is worth more with Auto.

Temporarily. Time will tell which model ends up with a higher appraised value.

I live in the Rockies so know all about mountains. Even better with a manual trani -- less braking!

Enjoy your auto. It sounds like the best option for you. It's all about the best fit for the driver.

20 Years Old, Stick because it is a muscle car.

It's a shame to not have a stick muscle car if you can avoid it.

Manual...

Old enough to know it's the right choice. Let's put it this way... I can remember watching the Wonderful World of Disney on Sunday nights when I was like 10.

... patiently waiting for the person who will now say they grew up with Walt.

That was right after Bonanza, right?

Or Ed Sullivan?

Well I spent SOME time growing up on both bonanza AND disney as well as some davy crocket... but that was all re runs for me... lol

if you were 10 at the time world of disney premiered.... or "around" the time it was new'ish.. that puts you in the 60-65'ish range.. give or take depending on the exact age you were when it premiered in 54
