The bad thing about getting together is I did not know how many thing I really wanted to change on my car. From Saturdays show my mods wish list has grown. Its a good thing I don't have a mail slot or that Knight rider LED bar would also be on the list. That thing was just too cool James.

And I did love seeing a Synergy Green with Black Chrome wheels, and yep it made the mod list.

I was here before the name ICE and T-shirts were thought of so does that make me a member?. I like the loosely knit group where if you have time to participate on the ICE board or car shows fine and well. If you don't have time you're still welcome when you do. As far as car shows go if you want to help with a car show just ask whomever is putting it on what you can do to help. These are just my thoughts but who knows, I could be wrong.
All the points you make are good. I would also like to point out that, in order to achieve a full club you have to be able to balance membership. Which means you have to be somewhat selective when adding members. Also, most clubs have fees. We didn't want that. I would much rather put my money into my cars not a club. I enjoying being able to say I am part of ICE. I don't think things need to change.

You are correct. Everyone that I get an email from asking to be apart of our group is added to the Members folder.

You know we should really call ourselves a group rather than a club. Clubs are incorportated, groups usually aren't.

On a side note, I am interested to see how many group members did show up on Saturday. It will have been our best group attendance thus far.

I like the idea of calling ICE a group...a group of Iowa Camaro Enthusiasts.

I don't know much about the organization of a car club and how all that works. Maybe someone that has been or is in one should chime in on what it all takes. Take a look at the pros and cos of being a club or just staying a group. Maybe having an actual club has some benefits that are being missed out on (but I don't know).

When I think of a club I think of paid membership, some form of rules, "electing" officers, having actual meetings, etc.

What makes some of that more difficult is how spread out everyone is. There is a decent bunch from the Waterloo area and then from around Des Moines.

I do know everyone has a good time on here and an even better time getting together at different car shows and getting to know people. As you do that you get to become friends and have someone else with similar interests to hang out with (even if that is just at the different car shows). Also, as Grinch said it is great to see what people have done to their cars and get an idea of what you might want to do.

One thing I was thinking was maybe look at the car shows that go on through the year and maybe come up with say 6 that a bunch of people try to go to. If you know ahead of time you can plan on it and have a decent showing from the group. What you have to look at with this is that it needs to be spread out with mix of events to the East and Central locations.

Sorry, I don't check it very often. I am going to set it up on my phone as a secondary email. That way I will get any notifications or emails right away.

I also like the idea of calling ICE a group rather then a club.

I like using the ICE Facebook page for events. Steve seem to list everything he hears about which is great. It's out there in a timely fashion and we can plan better with advance notice. I think if you hear of anything you're interested in we all would probably be interested so you need to let Steve know. I think we have 3 ICE pages where 1 would do the job but I'm not doing it so the extra work doesn't trouble me. LOL

Another T-shirt order for the latest group of people who missed out on the first order go around is needed too. Maybe use a on-line service so people can order T-shirts, hoodies, etc any time without the minimum order numbers or a yearly ordering.

C5 readers.
I just read up on all the posts since last friday noon ish that I missed- I'll try this one for now due to limited time. Please Jason/Ken, correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes- there is a list. It was one of the itinerary 'start up' items we posted/discussed to create.

Yes- it was desired to send out info about get togethers and shows to the group via -the gmail account/list. It has been done a few times, last being May. We need to continue this because many people do not frequently read, or anymore read this section. This takes extra time on the managing side which has been gratiously volunteered, unoffically, and as with all of us-been very busy. This could be a joint effort, if assistance is desired by owner, if someone has the access and time.
Due to timing of last minute events and ease of open discussion, this forum section became the easy way of communication the events. A user can set up the section to automatically email them when a new post is created. Many do not use Facebook. Others and myself have also sent PM (last one to 18 users) and cell texts on occasion to those individuals that don't always read this site- to try to keep them in the loop.

Yes- we need to disseminate the list, unless PM to the coordinator otherwise to exclude your contact info. I was hoping it could have been printed for the show, but electronic would be better anyways. This will allow info to also get to those not on this forum, such as some other Generation owners from ICE.

No- neither way will be fool proof, for many things come up fast, or people are offline for extended times. It does help to reply indicating a status of ones ability to participate, because it at least shows receipt of notice.
I too have missed out on some due to my extended offline time and no smart phone/ no email, but don't expect others to contact me- my responsibility as a C5 viewer to check this forum section if I wan't to stay connected.

Other:

I do agree we / ICE needs to work on different aspects of the club. There is some history, not all written, that helped started its origin. New Enthusiasts and opinions ARE welcome. Not sure why some others were absent in the past or verbally expressed no interest to participate/yet now do-but they are also still welcome too.
The Club(as agreed in the voting process) was formed probably too fast, as we all knew at the time, but needed to at least set a base by getting a name, cards, and shirts. Since the summer would be hectic for all of us, we knew we would need to get back to it at a later date. Many people provided input during startup (from only half of all Iowa Camaro5 registered Users that were solicited voted) and many gave of their free time-which we are greatfull. There were suggestions (see prior posts) but no expectations to 'have to' do anything more, until we made some time available (see my other post comment left on this 'free time' if there's issues).

5th Gen born date -~2009, ICE formed this summer- infancy- please let's all be patient. There are a lot of good ideas out there, have heard several even this month. We CAN get there in stages, while respecting everone's opinions. Not everyone will be pleased or satisfied, but with the interests of the Camaro and the enjoyable limited time we get to share together, we can still grow and get of of it as little or much as we each desire.

Thanks for your reading time.

A special thanks to Paul and Kitty for their extreme efforts for the show again.

Take care,
Tim

I see this club growing little by little, step by step. No need to rush things. We take our time and try to stay organized as much as possible. Please be patient and respectful of all opinions.

Iowa Members Get In Here!

There are also other avenues of communication available too besides email.

Bob H. (Redmaro on the Camaro 5 forum board) requested that I set up a separate I.C.E. forum within the Mid-Iowa Camaro Club website so that I.C.E. members could find information on shows, cruises and events easier than trying to find it somewhere contained in this thread on Camaro5. I set it up and it has been used virtually none at all since I set it up. If no one wants to use it...........that's fine. I can take it down faster than I set it up and it will take up less space on our forum board.

We would like for the I.C.E. people to use it but that is completely up to them and it would possibly open avenues of communication between I.C.E. and the Mid-Iowa Camaro Club.
