This is the 4th Camaro I've owned and will probably not be the last. Strange how the '13 GT500 comes out and finally Ford wins the bragging rights title and now, suddenly, Camaros are, and have been, inferior for the duration of the pony car war. I have a different recollection of the history of this war, but my perception may be biased by brand loyalty-induced stupidity.
Ford won the bragging rights with the 5.0 over the SS. Hell even the 2011-2012 GT500 out did the ZL1 at the drag strip.

I certainly do remember the 1998-2002 LS1 powered Camaro SS (and z28 too) being faster than the 1998-2001 Cobra (Ford did not build a Cobra in 2000 or 2002)

In 2003 (Cobra came out in Spring 2002) it was again faster than the LS1 SS/Z28.

The LT1 years vs. the 4.6 DOHC Cobras were a toss up as both cars were running 13.5-13.7's

5.0 GT vs. SS LS3, the 5.0 is the faster vehicle. ZL1 vs. GT500 2011-2012, GT500 is still faster, 2013, it was a no competition.

2013 1LE vs. 2013 Boss, 1LE is showing to be a better car.

I'm not judging your reasoning for liking a Camaro, I am just saying I find brand loyalty to be dumb.

Nissan is another full-line manufacturer if one wants to be brand loyal

But.... Brendan has already told us to leave the GTR out of this debate

I'm saying that I do not find brand loyalty to be dumb. I also do not consider the Mustang to be a superior product...not now, not ever.

Ah, but this would only tell us if the Mustang is superior in one aspect.

We could do beaver run as well

or pitt international raceway, it's admissions fee is typically just too high for some folks, that and you need to run around with an instructor for your first time out or the first half of the day. Not sure if that is still the same. I know they typically do not like newer guys running full out their first time.

Btw, don't take this as digging, but this is a friendly call out

When do we not count certain vehicles due to modifications? Meaning, what is "fair" for comparison? It's obvious that a blown 5th gen is going to be quicker than a stock 5.0 or that a Fox with full MM suspension is going to run laps around a LS1 car.

Further, are there certain things that can not be quantified? Sort of like ride -- what is harsh to one may not be firm enough for another. The daily livability is something that counts for vehicles being "better" for some. Sort of like the gas mileage for Brendan and a Raptor -- if one weighs gas mileage heavily, the GT500 could be theoretically inferior to a gas-miser 3.6 Camaro.

So we bought cadillacs and lincolns now?

I honestly have zero clue what Chris's blown 5th gen will run at PRP. I do know my previous 2011 5.0 ran 11.5 with just drag radials and bolt ons.
