It's just a bad deal all around.. For the owner whose trust and property were violated , the dealership getting national retaliation and all the other people caught in the middle.. :(
That about sums it up. I have been following this thread (all of them though it has been hard at times). This is good for no one. The dealership now has a bad reputation...both good and bad employees will be affected. The dumb ass technicians that did this will probably have a hard time finding work after this happened...quite possibly depending on our tax money to keep them above water. William may have gotten what he is satisfied with but I would assume he would have like to left with his car in the same condition or better when he left the dealership. I agree that people need to hang for this, but this turns out good for no one.

Saying that it is nice to see that this site and many others were able to make a difference and get this noticed. But there are no winners in a situation like this.

From the comments that were made implying nothing wrong was done and it was basicly the customers fault...I doubt the mechanics were fired....I dont think the dealership honestly believes they were in the wrong here, they simply folded under the public preassure. Not because they were trying to do the right thing.

In true dirt bag dealer form, they take none of the blame, and try to come off as the good guys by buying the car back and donating to charity.

So he accepted blue book is what it sounds like in the article, since he is giving the excess to charity. Sounds like 27,000 bucks, no deal unless I was wanting to part with the car anyway.

I think if I have clutch problems I'll just avoid the damn dealer regardless of warranty, they always stick it to you anyway since it's a wearable part.

I'm not actually understanding what you are saying here, sure there may be no winner, but when something like this happens there usually isn't a winner, but as for the dealer they deserve the bad rep the got, under a good service dept something like this would never happen because they would have a system of checks and balances in place to ensure (as much as possible) that it wouldn't happen. As for the good techs they will be fine, and as for the douchebags that did this they don't have any place in the trade. Remember people are always remorseful once they are caught and their asses are in a sling.

The vehicle in question has been the focus of a recent viral video created by a local man. The person who brought the car to the dealership secretly recorded discussions between two employees and later released a portion of the audio on the internet. Today, Best Chevrolet is releasing the entire 30 minutes of the audio to give the full version of the situation.

At the end of the tape, he drives the vehicle in a similar manner to the one that he complains about. He drives the car just as hard. A car of that style needs to be driven hard to test for the problem he stated. It is a high performance car and is not likely to be damaged in such a way.

In his own words, his vehicle already had been damaged at another location.

The vehicle in question was not originally purchased at the dealership nor ever worked on at Best Chevrolet. The vehicle was brought in for a diagnostic in September, but no work was ever recommend or performed.

Best Chevrolet takes all customer complaints seriously. The dealership prides itself on reputation and service. They are pleased to say we have reached a deal that ultimately will serve local charities
Shifting without using your clutch is not likely to cause damage, it's acceptable to call the customer a jackass, etc.

Wow!!!

I call that a dying fish flopping around. Nobody who has heard about this will buy a thing from Best Chevrolet. I thought the original complaint was a grinding noise at parking lot speeds? Nice try Best Chevrolet.

It's most likely too late for damage control.

Does the "rest of the "audio" explain the contemplating of committing warranty fraud?

I have not heard the complete unedited recording of what happened, so there may be more to the story. From what I have heard the technicians were not acting in a professional matter. I agree that there is no way to tell if they will be fired. But after what was recorded including the statements about how they would bill both the customer and GM, I would assume that some action would be taken...weather by the dealership or GM. The dealership itself may have not been at fault, but these are employees of the dealership that are caught on tape so the dealership overall will be held responsible in the public eye. They may feel that they are not in the wrong, but in my opinion the evidence up to this point shows that their technicians were in the wrong, which will point back to the dealership. One bad egg ruins the whole basket.

They were just trying to be helpful lol. I wonder if GM has talked to the dealership yet? Now that would be a conversation I'd like to hear.
