Carmax is a good judge too. When customers want more for their cars then what we can give and make a profit on resale, we always send them that way.
This used to be true. However, Carmax is stealing cars these days. They offered $3k less than the 2011 SS BLACKBOOK value for my '12. Um...no freaking way.

Plus...be very careful buying cars there. Not all is what it seems.

I'm in the car business, not buying anything from them but it does open customers eyes to the value of their trades. Its funny how everyone wants to steal a new car at or way below MSRP but when it comes to trade time they go to the KBB and NADA numbers and comment "but this is what is WAS worth!" Most those don't take into account volume of that type of car being traded and or factory incentives..

Mods always hurt more than help on trade-in values.

However, if you privately sell and can find a buyer who likes what you have done to the car, then you might get a bit closer to what you are looking for out of it.

Of course, selling a car privately is a whole different PITA.

What do you guys think? Was the offer to low? Or just about right?

Also what do you think would be a great/fair value to let the car go?
You can get a nice Honda for that money
