Please stop at the front desk and turn in your membership card.

All kidding aside, if you need to save money on payments and gas then do what you need to. My .02, forget about pi$$ing away an extra $10k because someone turbo charged a toy. You aren't buying it to be a sports car, and really, it just isn't. You can choose from a plethora of 40 mile per gallon cars with a nice trim package for under $18k. And with the 6 speed auto trannies they are plenty quick. I just bought my daughter a Hyundai for $17.5k out the door and it has everything but leather and a sunroof. 40 MPG. Keep the $10k for the Hogg! Good luck!

True! I think I'm just going to refinance the car in a year and get the bike. I'll just ride the bike to work anyway, so I will save a lot.

Here's my 2 cents. Last winter I walked into a Mine Cooper dealership looking to maybe buy one for business since I drive a Chevy Tahoe now. I also was thinking of saving a little gas money. It took about 20 minutes for me to remember that this country was needing to put it's people back to work. I decided my $$ were not going to an out of country company. I walked out. I try and buy MADE IN USA any time I possibly can. We each have to make our own mind up as to how we will do our part. In 3 weeks from now I'll do my part again and vote. I won't go any further here. THX

If you are choosing to go that route, don't get a Mini, get a WRX or something similar like an EVO. Much more reliable, good gas mileage (for AWD), and more bang for your buck, in my opinion.

LAST I READ

last I read heads and intake off every 22,000 miles to decarbon. If true that would get to be expensive and or time consuming if you did it yourself.

Have you ever met a Mini driver who wasn't a woman or a pretentious tool? Odds are, the answer is no, and I'd hate to see a fellow self-respecting Camaro make the conversion into either category.

Back in 2008 I seriously considered buying a Mini Cooper S. Couldn't get past the fact that there were only 1 or 2 dealers in the state (2 now, I think only 1 back then) and I hated the strange dash configuration. I ended up buying a Mazdaspeed 3, which was faster, more practical and a whole lot easier to get repaired. It was a great car. If it had been a convertible I might still have it. I'm glad don't though. Having owned that turbo 4, followed by a turbo 6 BMW 135i convertible I can say that, at least for me, a small turbo engine isn't nearly as much fun as a big V-8. And they sure don't sound as good.
